That is what I do. My presets are all leveled so I put the main output gain all the way up (an easy twist to the right and forget it) then adjust at the powercab. I wish they would have chosen another LED color between green and red. that orange is just too hard to detect in a live and active stage. However, you are correct...I say leave those presets alone. My $.02
