That's a question i never knew the answer to. The HD had quite detailed power amp emulation, the X3 had it inbuilt but you could only edit the level only using POD Farm. In some early interview with the POD 2.0 designers they said it had none and it was basically just a preamp, no wonder it sounded good when you plugged it into an actual power amp. How about the XT, being the in-between generation? I know it has a straight to power amp output option, but i can't find any precise info to confirm it's more like an updated 2.0 or a primitive later gen.
