  1. That TOTALLY WORKED!!!! I was missing one more "instant" step. But once I saw what was going on it clicked! I don't mess with midi enough in order to get used to it and to remember the steps involved. Thank you SO MUCH for your help!!! I would have still been beating my head against the wall. lol.
  2. Thanks!!! I'll work on that this evening and let you know!! I really appreciate your help!!!
  3. Thank you! I basically just use presets. No snapshots as of right now. As you can see from the JA Bloom info, you can change the compressor presets via program changes and turn on/off the different features via command changes. You can also control the value of the boost (bloom) levels. So, here's a couple example scenarios. Preset 1- I would like to have the CC#1 - COMP ON, CC#2 - EQ ON and COMP PROGRAM CHANGE #2 (Country mode for chicken pickin) Preset 2- I would like to have CC#1- COMP ON, CC#2 - EQ OFF and COMP PROGRAM CHANGE #4 (for a ballad with some dirt added) and then maybe use either one of the HX Effects buttons (in stomp mode) or an external control switch to engage CC#3 - BOOST ON feature during a solo, use CC#4 - MidiBOOST ON, (to allow for midi control of boost level) and then use my expression pedal to control the boost level amount via CC#5 ) midiBoost expression. Hope I was clear with explaining that, lol. Anyway, that's a few scenes I might use. Thanks again!!
  4. Hey everyone, I was wondering if someone could give me some guidance when it comes to midi. I've only dabbled in it and, for the most part, I've always figured it out. But this one's got me puzzled. Although I'm sure it's simple but I'm missing something somewhere. I have an HX Effects unit. I've never needed to mess with it's midi capabilities until now. I just purchased a Jackson Audio Bloom V2 Midi compressor pedal. It's a killer pedal. It has 6 compressor presets as well as EQ and boost features, and you can control those functions via midi. I've got it connected to one of the loops on the HX Effects and all is well there. I purchased the recommended DIN-5 midi to TRS cable that Jackson Audio recommends and I have it all hooked up. That's where it ends, because for the life of me I can't figure out how to set up the midi on the HX Effects. The Jackson Audio page gives the information I need, although kind of vague considering my limited midi knowledge, and honestly, the HX Effects is kinda vague too in my opinion. I had a Helix for awhile and I figured out how to switch my amp channels via the midi in the helix, so I figured I should be able to figure this out but as of right now I can't get anywhere. So I would really appreciate some help. I'm including the JA Bloom V2 midi pedal details about it's midi setup. Hopefully someone can figure this out and explain it to me in a simple way...lol. Thanks so much in advance!!! MIDI – NEW FOR 2019! Since the BLOOM first came out, we have received many requests from our players saying that adding MIDI to the BLOOM would make it the perfect compressor and we completely agree! Always we take player feedback as a primary driver of product development and we are very proud to announce that the most flexible compressor on the just got better with the addition of MIDI! NOTE: In order to accommodate this new feature, for space reasons, we were required to eliminate the SIDECHAIN that the original BLOOM featured. CABLE INFORMATION: In order to use MIDI on the BLOOM v2, you will need a cable that converts a MIDI (DIN-5) connector to a TRS cable. This is the cable that we have used with great success and can't recommend it enough. https://www.disasterareaamps.com/shop/mj-5p-cable For those building their own cables, the BLOOM v2 receives MIDI information via the RING connection on a TRS (Tip, Ring, and Sleeve) connector. MIDI CHANNEL By default, the BLOOM v2 – MIDI ships with MIDI Channel 1 being the selected channel. This can be changed by pressing and holding both the COMP and BLOOM footswitches while applying power to the BLOOM. While holding these footswitches down adjust the BLOOM knob. All the way down is MIDI Channel 1…all the way up is MIDI Channel 16 with channels 2-15 being located evenly between those two points as you rotate the BLOOM knob. You’ll notice that as you rotate the BLOOM knob, the BLOOM LED will flash to indicate which MIDI channel you have selected. IE – 7 flashes = MIDI Channel 7. After the LED flashes, we inserted a 2-second pause so you could tell when the LED was finished flashing. The LED will continue flashing as long as you are holding down the two footswitches. Once you have selected the MIDI channel you want and have verified it by counting the flashes, simply release the two footswitches and the pedal will save this MIDI Channel to the internal EEPROM on the microprocessor and reboot. MIDI DETAILS Accessing the new MIDI features of the BLOOM is done by a combination of Program Changes as well as Control Changes. Below is a list of the features of the BLOOM that can be accessed via MIDI and how to access them. PROGRAM CHANGE #1 – LIMITER MODE PROGRAM CHANGE #2 – COUNTRY MODE PROGRAM CHANGE #3 – R&B MODE PROGRAM CHANGE #4 – BALLAD MODE PROGRAM CHANGE #5 – JOEY (SLIDE) MODE PROGRAM CHANGE #6 – AUX MODE CC #1 – COMP ON/OFF (value of 127 = ON /value of 0 = OFF) CC #2 – EQ ON/OFF (value of 127 = ON /value of 0 = OFF) CC #3 – BOOST ON/OFF (value of 127 = ON /value of 0 = OFF) CC #4 – midiBoost ON/OFF (value of 127 = ON /value of 0 = OFF) – midiBoost determines what has control over the boost level; midi or the bloom knob on the pedal. CC #5 – midiBoost expression (value of 0-127) – midiBoost expression determines the boost level. This can be either a set value or can be expressed via a MIDI expression pedal.
