I sat down with what little free time I have to try to build a patch for a project and the Stadium app just will not stay connected. I get the disconnected message immediately. Reboots, logout/re-login, nothing seems to be working. It worked fine for a few hours the other day and then went back to doing its spontaneous disconnecting thing. And of course there is zero actionable information in the message. If there were, then maybe I would have a fighting chance here. But with all of the connected gear I have around that works just fine, I tend to think this is a Line6 issue.
Combined with being constantly logged out of the Stadium XL and having to re-login, the Helix Stadium has left a bad taste in my mouth. Staying securely logged in for long periods has been a solved problem in the software world for a long time now. There is no excuse for this. Even less so that it's gone on for this long. I also question the need to be logged in on the unit at all to download updates or connect to the Stadium app.
I loved the original Helix, but I find myself opting to play a real amp and pedals over the Stadium the vast majority of the time because it seems like every other time I turn it on, I run into yet another bug. It's taken all of the joy out of it to be honest. I hope Line6 starts taking this seriously and actually fixes these problems.
