  1. This is my first post and I'm hoping you guys or gals can help me. I'm very new to guitar (1 year) and I'm trying to create my own personal tone. The hard part here is how to ask for help because Im so new I don't know the right right terms to use and at the same time have to describe the sound in my mind using words, but I'll give it me best shot. I'm looking for a deep warm sound with a punch. Let me take a step back....I'm playing on an Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Top Pro on an Amplifi 150 using skinny top fat bottom strings. I'm looking for a sound that is deep and clear at the same time. The trouble is it seams every time I add distortion it gets too scratchy or crunchy for what I'm looking for. Music I listen to so maybe trying to recreate is Tool, Avenged Sevenfold, Metallica, Pantera, and Stone Sour. The presets of these bands just are not getting "my sound" right. It seems there is too much treble, crunch, scratch going on. It's like I'm just looking for a good low powerful bass filled sound without the extra side noise that I usually get. I know almost nothing about all the settings, but have tried my best to try them all out. I tried my best hope you guys/gals can help, thanks at least for reading all this.
