PODxt Live & Variax - can’t see 500

Recommended Posts

I purchased the following and have issues unresolved.  Any advice is appreciated.

•  PODxt Live - pristine condition - evidently never programmed, seldom turned on.

•  Variax 300  good condition, great neck, possibly jumbo frets, amazing for a 300

•  Variax 500 Sunburst absolutely new condition.  Owner said he played it 5 times

I have an issue with 2 defective Digital cables from Sweetwater which Line6 has agreed to resolve. Unfortunately the 2nd cable is now stuck in the back of the PodXT Live leaving me no other cables to try until I send it back to Line6 to replace (likely the jack).   The Cat5 connections interlocked inside the PodXT Live and will not release.

The V300 is a bit worn but sounds incredible and plays like a champ.   I had to fix a bug by flashing the memory a 2nd time but it is seamless with the PodXT Live and I customized all my open tunings and models.    It initially had a couple bent Cat5 prongs from someone trying to plug a 1/4 jack in the DI input and I fixed those perfectly.  No issues.

The V500 froze the PodXT Live upon booting but by unplugging and plugging in the V500 cable I was able to choose, see and hear the Variax V500 in Monkey and Workbench.   I thought it was just a glitch so I flashed the memory and proceeded to copy all my custom settings to the V500.   Upon trying to make sure everything was up to date on the V500 I tried to connect again to the PodXT Live but it will only let me hear the V500, no volume control at PodXT, no pedals work and no recognition on Monkey or Workbench, no way, no how.

Variax 500 FREEZES PodXT Live and can’t be seen by software even though I can hear audio.

Variax 300 has no issues and works fine with PodXT Live, Monkey and Workbench

The V300 is recognized immediately every time.    The V500 is so clean, the little cap was even on the DI cable input and when I showed it to the seller he didn’t even seem to know there was another input jack there.   I can’t explain why the V500 can’t be seen and the V300 can.   Even if I get into Monkey, I’m afraid to flash the memory because I may never be able to reload my custom models.

•  The other minor question I have is about the dots/periods between the numbers and letters on the PodXT LCD screen.   Before I flashed and updated the PodXT Live there were no dots.

When I updated the PodXT there was one dot between the numbers (indicating a Variax is plugged in?)   Now that I’d tried to connect the V500 there is always a dot between bank numbers and a 2nd dot before patch letter.   I don’t know what the dots signify.  ANY HELP is appreciated.  I know Line6 will fix the PodXT jack because it’s their cable that is defective but this issue with the V500 is likely on me.   I bought it for a Xmas gift.    Thanks

I also have a 300 and a 500 and have had similar issues.  I quit using the 500 on live gigs because it has frozen up while on stage.  I've had better success with the 300.  I also have the acoustic electric which I think is a 700.  It works fine all the time.

I don't have answers to your questions.  I'm curious to see who out there has similar problems and if there's a fix.
