billlorentzen
I'm having two problems with it: For about 90% of its throw, it is quite stiff, compared to most volume pedals, wah wahs, etc., but at the heel down position, it has a lot of loose play. In fact it won't even stay in place - it falls with gravity for about 10% of its throw. In the forward position, as I rock it back, it's stiff at first, then hits a loose range and then gets stiff again. For most of its range, It's a little too tight for a wah feel - my ankle feels the effort uncomfortably. I have adjusted it with the wrench, and it's about as loose as I can get it without gravity completely taking over. As it is, I doubt it will stay up on a stage with drums and a bass amp working. The other issue is that on the left side it is less than a 32nd of an inch from the top plate. If I exert the slightest lateral pressure, it rubs. There is lots of clearance on the right, so I'm thinking maybe it's not mounted properly - a missing washer or something? This could conceivably also be the problem with the inconsistent friction of the action. Anyone else had this issue? I'm reluctant to take it apart - it's only 2 weeks old and should still be swappable if this is a manufacturing fault.
jerryratpack
Let me say that I had originally developed the squaky pedal issue. I backed out my hex to make it loose and it wouldn't go back in. I fiddled with it until it did get re aligned, but it was then experiencing what you are describing. It was rubbing a little on the left and it was not seated properly ... Ok, so I opened the back up. I should of taken a picture of the nut / bolt system they use where the the hex bolt goes thru, and apparently this can slip out. At least if it was possibly faulty to begin with. My suggestion is not to mess with it. And it to get fixed by an authorized agent or line 6 , or exchange it. I managed to get it completely aligned, however I am on occasion having issues with volume values etc. Frank Ritchotte told me no problem and send it in and will fix it within a week I would have it back, which by the way , he was going to do flips to make this happen quickly and I appreciate his fast response and great customer service !!!!! I was about to do that, but my retailer told me they wanted to ship me a brand new one since it was only a few days old and the pedal was giving me problems before I opened the back. They are out of stock and told me to hold on to my helix until they get more in, which is super cool with me as well. Sweetwater is also trying to do whatever it takes to make me happy and solve the issue. And they said no issue if it passes the thirty day marked and already documented it and sent me a shipping label. They will ship me a new one before they get this one back. Very happy with them and they will be getting my business for my next purchases which is an amp and new guitar that was going to go to another retailer... So thank you sweetwater as well as line 6 ! Sorry for the long answer, lol... But I wouldn't open the back and mess with it as you may or may not be able to line things up properly. billlorentzen
I also bought mine at Sweetwater. I spoke with them and they are promising to cross ship me a new one when they are back in stock. I'd still like to know what the actual problem is (I'm curious that way), but I'm not going to open it and void my warranty.
