hump22
When I power up my flextone 3 every light available on it lights up but no sound. Any suggestions on how to fix? Thanks
DaddyK3tchup
Did you ever get a reply to this or even find a fix? I have the same problem. All lights are on, no sound and I cannot get it to connect to Line 6 Monkey via midi.
BillBee
Try holding down the "A" button as you start it (puts it into safe mode). Then connect it and get Monkey to reflash it. I would download the flashfile to your computer first and choose "flash from file".
DaddyK3tchup
Thanks for the quick reply BillBee. I thought this forum might be dead! I've tried that 'A' button fix and the lights still stay on and there is no discernable difference. What should safe mode look like in terms of lights on the amp?? Line 6 Monkey doesn't even recognise the Flextone III anymore. It's the first time I've switched her on for a few years, think it might be bricked. BillBee
I can't tell you off hand what safe mode should look like (knock on wood) my Flex 3 hasn't needed it yet. There might not be a visual clue per se but it should allow Monkey to reflash it. I guess the big question is: Is the midi/usb connection good? What adaptor are you using? Hopefully its not bricked. DaddyK3tchup
Using an Edirol UM-1ex. It always used to connect no problem but no longer since all the lights on the amp came on. When I flash the amp, I can see there is data going through the Edirol (there's an led that blinks) but there is no difference after I switch the amp on and off after the flash. Still lit up like a christmas tree. Thanks for trying but I fear it's bricked to high heaven.
BillBee
For S&Gs I would try another usb/midi cable the MAudio Uno is the 1 that usually works.
DaddyK3tchup
I'll certainly give that a try before I spend another fortune on a new amp. If it does come to that though, have you got any recommendations of something similar to a Flextone III?
BillBee
New: its tough as I would go modeler -> power amp/cab or FRFR monitor Used: Next step up from a Flex III for an all inclusive L6 amp -> Vetta II :D The amount of options out there are crazy. The Flex II (based off the Pod 2.0) still sound really good to me too. (Flex III is the XT)
DaddyK3tchup
I know, I don't even know where to start. I like the look of the Amplifi but can't imagine it's any good under the hood. Looks like it could be all style and no content. Hey, and thanks again for your time and advice. DaddyK3tchup
Ok, just tried out the MAudio Uno and still got the same problem. Just to clarify, you need to press and hold the A button (channel select) on the Amp when switching it on to get into safe mode right? Not the A pedal on the FBV? BillBee
Yep A button on the amp. Try switching the leads on the Uno too. For some odd reason mine goes In/In and Out/Out.
DaddyK3tchup
For some odd reason, when I tried the In/In, Out/Out thing, the power on my amp would not come on at all (which is some kind of different behaviour at least!). Took the leads out and the power was able to switch on again. Put the leads back in using the In/In, Out/Out test and tried to flash it but unfortunately this hasn't worked either. DaddyK3tchup
Any idea where I can download Flexupdater from? I've read that it was the precursor to Line 6 Monkey and it apparently works better with Flextones that Line 6 Monkey does. Can't find it anywhere though. BillBee
http://steve.sideroadsband.com/FlexUpdater.rar That link (hope I typed it right) works.
DaddyK3tchup
Great, thanks. Yes that link works. Flexupdater can't communicate with my amp through midi though and as I can't seem to get the amp into safemode (by holding A on power up) or perform a factory reset (A and D on power up) I think I can safely say that my Flextone III is officially dead. I had it apart and reconnected some of the ribbon connectors to see if that made any difference and I even tried kicking it a couple of times to encourage it, but nothing. Thanks for your efforts though BillBee, much appreciated.
