Helix Control of 5150 Amp Channels via MIDI

Hey all,

I have a 4CM setup between the Helix and a 5150 III combo.  I have set up three footswitches labeled Clean, Crunch and Lead the transmit a Program Change MIDI message to the 5150.  This all works very well, but I can't figure out how to do the following:

I want to group the three footswitches so only one is active at a time and have the footswitch light appropriately for the selected channel.  For instance, if I select FS2 it should light, send the MIDI Program Change to the 5150 to switch to the crunch channel and the previously selected FS1 or FS3 should un-light.

Is it possible to do this?

Hope I explained it well enough and thanks in advance for any feedback!

Normal footswitches can send the MIDI cmds, but there's no automatic way for one switch to turn several others off.

I resisted snapshots for a while myself, but my bet is you'll like them when you check them out. It is true that you do need to switch to a footswitch mode where they're displayed, which is something of a commitment, but you don't have to go all the way there at once. I recently played with some friend using several snap presets and some that were just stomps.

Not sure if this will help or not..  But totally agree with Zooey..  Snapshots all the way.

I not only do I come from the land down under (pardon the pardon  :P), but I also come from using the Axe FX-ii, and I wholey and soley use it in 4CM with my EVH 5153 50w amp.   Now, I'm using the EVH amp purely as a power amp so that I can use all the on-board amp sims within the Axe (yes, even though I'm doing it in 4CM).  It works incredibly well, I love it and it's seamless.

When my custom made amp gets finished in the next week or two, it has midi, so I'll be using my Helix floor unit to change channels etc etc all via snapshots. I won't be using the footswitch that my amp will come with - that's what my Helix is for.

Once you've kicked a goal or two by using snapshots, I think (and hope) you'll find it to be the best way to use it..
