jm1681
My wife bought me a POD HD for Christmas, and having used Line 6 gear quite a bit, I figured I was in good shape. Took it out of the box, updated everything, plugged in a crappy set of earbuds, and instantly I was where I wanted to be. Seriously; I was totally fine. Now, I'm all setup in a dedicated recording space, and I'm trying to dial it in, and it sounds INCREDIBLY metallic. Like there is a VERY short, single repeat delay in the chain, only there isn't. My setup is: Guitar > POD HD > Focusrite Scarlett Solo > Macbook Pro (Logic Pro X) > Alesis M1 Active 320 monitors I have the POD plugged into my Scarlett via the Left 1/4" Output only, and I'm figuring that might be part of my problem, but I don't know, and I don't have many options to make that NOT the case. Any ideas? I tried searching the word metallic in the forum, it's the only thing I can think to describe it, but I found nothing that really answered my question :/
cclement
My guess is that it would be the monitoring via Logic. Essentially you are hearing the sound of the Pod coming back thru Logic in addition to directly from the Scarlett. Sometime this is called "zero latency monitoring" ...but it means you are hearing the sound twice, a few milliseconds apart. Try flipping the "DIRECT MONITOR" switch to off.. this is the sound of the POD going into the Scarlett, before it passes into your DAW.
jm1681
Of all the things I tried, that is the one thing I did NOT try. Problem seems averted for now, all I did was turn off Logic's internal monitoring :)Thanks so much!
