Send/return as feedback loop?

Is the following possible?

(1)  Connect send 1 and return 1 with a patch cable.

(2)  Create the following chain:  return 1 -> delay -> reverb -> send 1

(3)  use the various level/mix/dry thru controls on the return 1 and send 1 blocks as a feedback loop that takes the reverb block and feeds it back into the input of the delay block

My experiments with just a delay where the feedback in the delay block was set to zero allowed me to get a little more than one repeat, but not nearly what I was expecting with the settings I was using.  I got some other random noises that didn't make much sense, and while tweaking accidentally came close to blowing out my ear drums :)  Would love either some guidance from someone that's done this before I explore some more or an affirmative "yeah, don't try that" if I should just stop.

Thanks!
