trigger3086
I have spider valve 112 mk2. I am purchasing a Firehawk fx.my question is regarding how to hook them together..I'm guessing I can't use the Ethernet cable that I have been using for my basic fbv floor unit..so it would be a four cable method.. however on some amps on rear has fx loop send and return ..on back of the spider it doesn't.. so where would the two cables go..would it be to the power amp in and pre amp out? And has anybody got this combination and how do the 2 work together .. Many thanks Dave
BillBee
That is the FX Loop for the SV. This link should help you. http://line6.com/support/topic/15344-how-to-setup-firehawk-with-4-cable-method/
trigger3086
I have tried 4 cable method..pre amp out on spider valve which is effect send into fx send on Firehawk. Then power amp in which is effect return on amp into fx return on firehawk. Then guitar in to guitar and 1/4 out to guitar in on amp...that's how I figure it.. doesn't seem to work..granted I haven't updated pedal as brand new so can't use app..if I update can I move the fx loop before the amp..would that work I'm really struggling...the link above doesn't really clarify as hd500 . BillBee
Read post #8 of the thread there is a block diagram of the Firehawk 4CM. Pre-amp out -> Fx return not a send (in). An out goes to an in. You could do something bad sending a signal to the wrong spot. Updating the pedal shouldn't matter is the basic cabling isn't correct. I don't have a FH but the 4CM is the same principle as the HD500. TBH the SVs sound really good on their own or like I proposed earlier go FH-> SV FX return and hit the tube power amp direct. trigger3086
So by what you're saying if I get that right. Guitar goes into guitar in on FH 1/4 out on FH goes to the guitar input on front of amp. The fx return on FH goes to the pre amp out.. And leave it at that you mean? Therefore only using three cables....apologies for my lack of knowledge on effects this is my first effects unit..happy with amp just wanted something to add to it.. If you could clarify further that would be really helpful.. Many thanks David
BillBee
From urbanspaceblast's post: Guitar -> FH Guitar In FH FX Send -> SV Guitar In SV FX Send -> FH FX Return FH Out -> SV FX Return That is the 4CM in its base form. Here is the kicker: Its a lot of signal to be pushing in the guitar in of the SV. The SV pre-amp is basically a Pod and Pods do not IMO like having a pre-amp signal pushed at them (think clipping). But if you go there just remember its not a conventional amp and it might take some madness to work (if at all). I have a SV MKI and Pod HD -> SV Fx Return is the best to me. Hope that makes sense. trigger3086
I get the four cable method I think.. what I meant was are you using that four cable method or just three due to the SV not liking having a signal pushed at them.. I have rehearsal tomorrow night and was hoping to be able to sort this before turn up.. So in essence how exactly is yours set up leads wise so will try that and see how goes... Many thanks for your patience it's all Greek to me this.. Thanks David

Many thanks for your patience it's all Greek to me this.. Thanks David No problem my man its what the forums are for. With my Spider Valve and HD I use the 2 cable method. Guitar -> Pod -> Spider Valve FX In. That is it and it sounds really good. To me the 4CM is for guys that want to use theirs amp's distortion while using the unit for FX. You are trying to do that too but on two units that have a lollipop load of FX already that don't benefit as much (like say you had just a std tube head with no built in FX). The FH probably already sounds damn good and through a tube power amp (SV) should sound great. ;)
trigger3086
So therefore Firehawk 1/4 out goes to preamp out in SV..and then guitar in on FH into my guitar..and do it that way .. that what u saying
