kenmac1
I picked up a replacement Helix on Monday since the other one kept crashing., dumping patches, basically screwing up... (These things love me)I have tried several times with this one to update the firmware, but it fails each time. The package opens (mac) download into my macbook completes, but then when it switches to screen two, "Verifying", nothing happens. The little bar which should move across showing progress / completion does nothing, and it just sits there like a dead mullet. So I have now downloaded the package three times off the site, and attempted multiple times with each package, same problem continues. Has anyone else had this? How do I get past this?I have my band due here literally any minute to rehearse, in fact bassist is pulling in now, and no Helix. Until the upgrade installs, the helix controller thing inside my computer will not interface with it, so I can't reinstall my presets from the last unit. PS I f---g hate these things. I have had three so far, and each one has been a pain in the butt for one reason or another.

Assuming from your post you have already taken good backups with your old Editor version that matched the firmware you had. Uninstall all Helix software. Make sure you have downloaded and installed the latest "Helix" app, not the firmware file. This will install the latest Editor and Updater. Now hopefully upgrade your firmware. Start the Updater. Try every USB port available if the Updater is not seeing your Helix or the update is being interrupted. Try restarting your MacBook if necessary. Make sure you do the Global Reset process after your firmware updates successfully(here's hoping). Restore backups, IRs, global settings. Restart Helix to rebuild restored backups. Link to various reset operations if the update gets stuck in the middle that may get you back to a point where you can run the firmware upgrade. https://helixhelp.com/reset-options/

I did have to completely uninstall the interface from my computer and start over. Was a pain, but it worked.
