hD500x midi issue with EVH 5150 (switching fx loop)

Hi there,

I wil use my 500x just in the fx loop of the 5150 50W head.

My wiring

FXsend amp to guitar in pod

FX return amp to left output pod

and of course midi

I can switch the amp channels with the pod, but not enable/disable the fx loop.

I want channel 1 with fxloop, channel 2 without, channel 3 with fx.....

I thought that's not a problem:  just use the pod cc messages in the midi menu of the footswitches.

EVH manual says:

channel that was used to send Program Change messages in

the section above (if different from MIDI channel 1), simply

send a Control Change #85 message with a value of 63 or less to

bypass the effects loop or a value of 64 or more to enable the

effects loop.

But when I set my footswitches to midi ch:01  CC#85  Value 64 or higher to enable fx loop,  or Value 63 or lower to bypass the loop

nothing happens.  fx loop is always on. Til now I wasted some hours.........hope you can help

Thanks in advance!

Setup option FS mode F5-F8 "Pedalboard mode" works, but unfortunatelly it seems that preset change is only in FS mode "ABCD" possible.

So maybe in" pedalboard mode" I can assign footswitch F5 (with CC-message to switch fx loop) with footswitch F1 (with Programm change message) to change the preset.

Thanks for the reply.

Ok problem is solved, not the easiest solution but it works for me.

The pod is set to "ABCD" mode to switch amp channels with FS5 - FS8, and change the presets.

In every preset I have a "dummy fx" assigned to footswitches FS1 - FS4. I only wanted Preset 1 and 4 with fx loop, so I assigned the FS1 and FS4 with Midi Command toggle CC85 Value 127,

and the other ones with toggle CC85 Value 0. So pushing FS5 enables fx loop, pushing FS6 disables, and so on.

I tried 4cm, and now this wiring to have a no coloring, clean bypassed sound. And in ervery method the sound is coloring. Not a lot, but audible.

So I'm happy now.

Maybe the newer Line 6 stuff like Helix HX or other ones have a better bypass,so you can always play fx on, but this things are hard to find used in Germany.

Thanks a lot.
