Pod Farm, Osx And Cubase. I'm Confused...

After happily using all the stuff mentioned in the subject I thought it was time to upgrade my studio computer.

New machine runs OSX Mavericks, Cubase 5 AI, Superior Drummer and Pod Farm. Well, the latter not yet.

I've bought my UX2 in August 2009. I understand that there are free upgrades to Pod Farm 2.5 for people who activated Pod Farm after October 2009. Bad luck for me, as it seems.

Now my so far used Pod Farm 1.12 + all available Model Packs does not work as VST in Cubase. So I have to upgrade to 2.5x, right?

I've downloaded the free version to test my setup. Works, but it does not allow me to use my Model Packs. Thanks, I paid for them and can't use them, anyway.

However, Pod Farm 2.5 is 99$. A Studio GX is about the same price and it comes with Pod Farm. I'm only using the instrument input on my UX2, wouldn't it be smarter to buy a GX, then? Or does that raise another problem I'm not aware of?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
