Windows 10 laptop does not detect my HD500

Hi

I'm new here and I wonder if anyone can help.  I just bought an HD500 used.  All seems fine with the unit itself but when I downloaded the latest HD500 Edit software (Version 4.2.7.7
Released 6/11/19) for my Windows 10 laptop, it does not detect the unit.  I have tried a new USB cable with the same result. I have the latest Monkey version 1.77 installed too.

On the unit itself the setup screen tells me I have Flash FW V2.10 and USB FW v0.00.

Any ideas what might be missing?

Thanks

Then visually check the USB port of your POD..

Happened quite a few times that the POD USB ports broke since unfortunately they are too delicate.

....the USB looks intact.

Even if the USB port of your POD looks ok surely it's not the original one which should be black and not white, which thing means that the original one broke and has been replaced, and we don't know if who did the replacement did a good job or not.

Moreover, to make the USB work again some times the USB controller chip needs to be replaced too .

Question: when you connect the POD to your computer is there any sign of reaction like o beep or the like?.. or your computer does just nothing?

If your computer does nothing it's not a good sign. It might be the POD USB not working at all.

FW V2.10 and USB FW v0.00 are very old, is there a way I can remove them from the unit without being connected to PC?

There is no way to remove, change, update the firmwares without using a computer.

However FYI normally the USB FW version in particular is not diplayed correctly (just 0.00) until the POD is connected and recognized by a computer, only after that the real current version is shown.

Thanks for the info.  There is no beep or anything like that when connected to PC, just get a message from the L6 Edit program that it cannot detect HD500.  Looks like I'll have to replace the port and/or chip then.....

before taking it to repair, as a last check, try connecting it also to another computer..

even with nothing already installed like drivers etc. when you connect the POD to any computer you shoud always see or hear something from the computer, otherwise it means that the POD USB is dead.
