Using Type A port to connect to Android Device

It looks like my Spider V 120 has a type A USB port and a type B USB port on the back.  The Type A port is labeled ipod or iPhone.  Can I ignore the labels and connect my Android device to the Type A port?  I don't have the cables for the Type B port.  Do both ports go to the same place or is there a reason one seems for Apple products only?  The type B can be used by both android or Macs.

Thanks for any assistance.

Dan
