MusicMan4274
Hey guys, I'm trying to run my Helix with 4 cable method into my Boss Katana Artist MKII (I like the clean Katana amps, but Helix Overdrive amps). I have both units plugged into my computer by USB, but there's a loud hum coming thru the lines. If I unplug one of the USB's it cleans up. If I skip 4CM and just run Helix in front of the Katana, it also cleans up. Both units plus my laptop are on the same power bar running to the same plug in my room. I've tried different plugins around the room for each item, but no difference. If I unplug the laptop power, it also still hums. I don't know what to do about it. I've seen people saying to use a hum eliminator on the send line from the Helix (https://www.amazon.ca/Pyle-Home-Eliminator-PHE400-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B00BARTW42/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=pyle+hum&qid=1595970682&sr=8-1). Or do I just need a good power conditioner? Thanks
MusicMan4274
Correction...Putting the Helix in front of the Katana keeps the hum when both are plugged into USB.
AndyRayZed
The cheaper USB A to B type cables give off a nice bit of high frequency noise, I've had that issue with Katana Head in the past and now with HX Effects, most cheap USB cables will do the same thing, it's worth finding a quality well shielded A to B type USB cable with a 'Ferrite Bead' in line to help eliminate that component at least, I notice a little more noise floor in the send/return but can't be sure if that cable upgrade will help, I just change settings then disconnect. Something like this will be a lot better than the standard issue Boss or Line6 USB in high frequency noise at least; https://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-Hi-Speed-Ferrite-U023-003/dp/B008VOPCGY
