HX Stomp looper usage: Bypass fx loop in different preset?

Hi,

I have two presets:

One for clean, other for distortion,

Both presets have the looper and FX loop L (neunaber immerse reverberator and rubberneck delay)

 

I'd like to loop the clean preset using the pedals in the FX loop L,

then switch to the distortion preset and be able to disable the FX loop L (using the footswitch) for  the distortion preset

but when I switch off the FX loop L in the distortion preset, it also disables the FX over the looped clean preset.

 

I have both looper blocks at the end of each preset, which I thought would have the looper record the clean tone with the FX loop applied, but that doesn't seem to be the case

 

I'm a new HX Stomp user so I figure I'm doing something incorrectly
