KB37 mod wheel sending random MIDI data

Hello!

My KB37 has served me flawlessly for years, but now the mod wheel has started misbehaving. Unless it's at the top position, it randomly sends out MIDI data without me touching it, which can mess up automations etc.

Time to open up the device then - so is there's a guide for fixing this issue, or should I just wing it?

Cheers!

Did you figure out how to fix your KB37's problem? I have never heard of this error. I want to learn more details!

Finally got around to looking inside the KB37. It opened easily with no shenanigans (just take all the screws out) and the mod wheel was connected to the board with a normal plug. Thumbs up to Line6 for that, really appreciate a design like this.

I just disconnected the wheel and the issue went away. So now I no longer have a mod wheel but at least I have a working unit again.

So it seems it's most likely a physical issue with the wheel potentiometer or its connection. You could try replacing it if you have the skills and can find the part. I hardly ever use the mod wheel anyway so I went with the lazy option instead.

Nothing obviously broken on the board. I first assumed I could try cleaning the wheel but that wasn't the case. There was no gunk or even dust inside, it's well sealed.
