Ext expression pedal

when i plug in ext expression pedal, the green light 'vol  exp 2'. goes out and the ext pedal controls vol. i wanted to have vol control using unit pedal + additional tremelo speed control via ext expression pedal and also switch between wah and vol using pedal in the pod go. is this possible or not?

No, I'm afraid you can't do what you want.  Per Doc brown from Line 6 (youtube vid comment)

 

"With POD Go you won't be able to have volume, wah, and [EFFECT] each with a dedicated expression pedal. The built in expression lets you swap between EXP 1 and EXP 2, but when you hook up an external expression pedal the built in expression pedal becomes EXP 1 and the external pedal becomes EXP 2. So you have a max of 2 expression pedals when using POD Go."

 

And also per p11 of the latest manual:

 

"Expression Pedal Move the expression pedal to control volume, wah, or a customized combination of amp and/or effects parameters. Activate the hidden toe switch to toggle between EXP 1 and EXP 2. (The LEDs tell you which one is active.) If an external pedal is connected to the rear panel EXP 2 jack, the built-in pedal becomes EXP 1 only. "

 

The only 'advantage' you get from an external expression pedal is that you don't have to 'click down' to engage the functionality change from eg volume to expression effect.  Perhaps this is something Line 6 might address in a future firmware update.  If it makes you feel any better, it's exactly the same in Helix except you can add 2 external expression pedals.

 

I use two external momentary footswitches. You could use a foot switch (on board or external) to toggle between two tremolo speeds/and/or different depths which will at least give you some flexibility with the tremolo but whilst keeping vol/wah functions on board.

ok. thanks for replying so i dont waste any more time trying to get it to do something it isn't capable of. it seems like a missed opportunity to not have 3rd expression pedal functionality when there is an external pedal input. perhaps a firmware update could add this if hardware permits.

I agree. Suggest you go onto the Line 6 Ideascale board to add this as a request for future firmware upgrades and/ or vote for it, if it's already been raised. This is where Line 6 look for customer feedback and take into consideration responses/ votes.
