rxdca
I just obtained a tube amp pedal with an effects loop. I want to run a couple of OD, distortion pedals before the amp pedal and use my Helix Stomp for all my time based effects in the effects loop, kind of a 3 cable method if you will, with the final output going to the DI on the amp pedal. My question is, do I use the input/output of the HxSt or the send/return?
SaschaFranck
Depends on the send level of your pedal, but usually, the Stomp can deal with a very wide range of levels on the "plain" input, so I'd possibly just use that as it's kinda the default (and who knows, maybe you want to abuse the Stomp's loops for something else one day). Just take a listen whether there's any clipping. I run my Stomp as a time based FX pedal only as well, using the "normal" input, sending, hm, let's say a sort of low level line signal into it. Works great.
VladimirZuz
Please tell me how to specify only the final amplifier in the effects chain (if I connect the preamp to the stomp) I can’t find one, how to create the chain correctly then? If you put just AMP, then you get one preamp + the second ... will this give unnecessary distortion?

Works great. From the manual: A serial FX LOOP is provided (FX SEND and FX RETURN jacks) for connecting other pedals. The FX LOOP’s RETURN jack contains a “normal switch” that interrupts the signal whenever a plug is inserted into the RETURN jack, and automatically bypasses the FX LOOP when the plug is removed. Because of this, the FX SEND jack may be used as another pre-EQ, pre-MASTER volume Output. Send impedance loop. 1 K Ohm Return impedance...... 100K Ohm I don't really know what this means? SaschaFranck
Impedance should be largely irrelevant in this scenario. As said, I'd just give it a try.
