Troubles with using 2 exp pedals

Hello! 

I recently bought a HX Stomp but I'm having troubles using 2 different expression pedals. I have a Sonicake Vexpress I modded to work with a TS cable (basically just cutting the Ring trace on the circuit). The fact is, no matter which of the two Y end cables I connecti it with, it always works as EXP 2 control (and never as EXP 1). Should I change the HX settings? Does it work in this way because I'm connecting just one expression controller?

I want to use 2 exp pedals but first need to be sure it works - but maybe it works only with exp. connected?
