Question about channels after Firmware Update

I just performed the update from 1.03 -> 2.50 on my Dad's Vetta HD for him.

Everything seems to have gone fine aside from the channel selection now doesn't seem to work as it did before the update.

Prior to the update you could quickly scroll thru the channels and after the update it seems rather slow and you can only go through them one at a time.

I tried changing the selection from instant to deferred, with Instant it slowly scrolls thru and selects the channel you're on automatically, on deferred it scrolls thru quickly but requires additional input to select. Is there a way to fix this or is this just how channels function on 2.50?
