aidanpoulter
Hi all. I hope I put this in the right place. I have a very X300 that’s quite old and now when I rest fingers on the strings not even playing anything it begins a loud Buzz at that point Which hasn’t been happening till then. I’m not great at Electronics so if you have a video that can show me how to Earth it or ground it properly, I’m guessing it’s something to do with that. Any help would be most appreciated. Also I am wondering as a second issue if problems with the model selector can be fixed by somebody knowledgeable resoldering or resautering the wires Attaching all that Magic. It doesn’t give me problems all the time but sometimes it just glitches into other models when I’m not touching the selector. If it can’t be fixed can someone tell me if replacing that selector is affordable for an old instrument that I just want my kids to be able to use actually. Many thanks for any time given and any advice. Music on peeps.
Nick_S
I've had a Variax 300 for a couple of months. I don't have a video to point you to for the earthing problem. I have been able to solve my primary model glitching problem with Servisol/Kontak Chemie Super 10 de-oxidising contact cleaner sprayed into any crack that I could find in the model selector switch body. I have been able to solve the secondary problem of model and pickup glitching when powered via TRS cable by cleaning the 1/4" jack socket with a cotton bud soaked in Super 10; the previous owner always used the VDI cable and the 1/4" socket got cruddy. I bought a replacement model switch from a company in Spain but I haven't used it.
