very low input level

I just received my (used) Helix LT, and noticed something weird... the input level seems to be extremely low. Of course I tried different cables. Setup is simple, Solar Guitar with passive Seymore Duncans into guitar in, headphone plugged in. I did a factory reset. I found a YT Video of Ola Englund that goes through the factory presets, an mine sound completely different. When I don't put the Volume knob completely up, I can't hear anything. Also for example that Essex A30 preset in slot 2 seems to be nicely crunchy, while I get only some sad "plonks" out of it, and even only if I really hit the strings hard. It's like there's 20-30db missing.

Could that be an actual hardware failure? Like input gain stage fried?

Edit: found the issue... the pickup switch on the guitar seemingly had collected some dust, and therefor a high resistance... after a few switches everything is normal ;) (gotta write a mail to Ola Englund that he should use better switches :D)
