Helix LT + MXR Rockman X100

I have a Helix LT and have just bought the new MXR Rockman X100 pedal:

My intent is to put the pedal in one of the Helix effects loops to be able to add it to the signal chain on a per preset/snapshot basis.

 

The pedal has 4 different modes that you can toggle through using the Mode button through the CTRL jack with a footswitch. If I wanted to make a Helix preset for Love Bites by Def Leppard, for example, I might want to make a snapshot that uses the CLN2 mode on the MXR Rockman for the intro/chorus, and a second snapshot that uses DIST mode on the Rockman for the pre-chorus/chorus/solo.

 

Using an external footswitch, switching from CLN2 to DIST would take 3 footswitch presses and going from DIST to CLN2 would take 1 footswitch press. Would it be possible (using Command Centre perhaps?) to send multiple footswitch presses via the EXT AMP jack on the Helix LT to the MXR Rockman's CTRL jack to be able to bring up a specific mode on the MXR Rockman when a specific snapshot on the Helix is loaded?

I tried this myself. The delay option on the instant command is not long enough when set at maximum to allow the M100 to differentiate between commands. You can of course get the Helix to send an instant command on preset change or snapshot change.

 

You will also need some kind of isolated relay to go between the Helix and the X100 because the X100 ground is -6vdc and the Helix is 0vdc, meaning that the sleeve connection between them shorts the -6vdc and eliminates the potential difference when the EXT AMP switch is closed. I had to current limit the circuit with a 10k resistor while using my pedalboard's 9vdc to change potential enough for the X100 to perceive that as a button press.
