Pod Go 2.50 Firmware Update Failed, Pod is Bricked

I followed the process to update my Pod Go Wireless from firmware 1.20.1 to 2.50 using the latest Pod Go Edit (v2.50) on windows 10. The update appeared to succeed, with a final message that the pod would redo some files or something and reconnect with Pod Go Edit, but after >20 min nothing changed (it appeared to be hung up). Rebooting the pod got me to the Pod Go Wireless splash screen, which indicates the old firmware number, 1.20.1, but the pod did not go any farther and it did not respond to any button presses.

After that, any attempts to connect Pod Go Edit to the pod failed to detect the pod, even if pod was booted into update mode (i.e. hold Page> during reboot, then plug in USB).

I attempted to redo the firmware update using the Line 6 Updater. The updater would connect to the pod only if the pod was booted into update mode (hold Page> during reboot). When attempting to update the firmware using the Updater, the Updater window disappeared about 5 seconds after update started. The pod hung up with the "updating" message displayed. I tried this with 2.50 firmware and with the 1.21 firmware several times. The original 1.20.1 firmware does not appear to be available, so I could not try that.

I then downloaded the 1.21 and 2.50 firmware files and attempted to load them from the updater as a "local file". The results were the same (no joy).

Thinking that there might be something running in the background killing the updater, I ruthlessly closed all processes that could even remotely be associated with audio--Chrome, Edge, Dell Audio, etc. and the results were the same.

Does anyone have any ideas about what I should try next? I have access to an old iMac and I could try using that. Any ideas?
