rickfugue
Hi All, It's been a long time since I've posted & you all have been more than helpful. The gear in question is as follows: Ibanez RG2570E, Randall RH50T, Line 6 Pod HD500X, BBE 382i Sonic Maximizer. Here's the deal. I know that for what I'm trying to do,...Keep my tube amp pre & power tube tone relatively intact whilst using the POD for boost in the front & FX in the loop. It means that the 4 cable method is the way to go. Got it. However most of what I read falls short when it comes to documenting external stomps or rackmount devices. What I have read says that FX block should be right after the front end FX but before the loop ones. Fair enough. I also have read that the maximizer is best right before the cab and after everything. To clarify I only intend to use the maximizer live, & please spare the maximizer debate. I love it in any other live set-up & if I get it going the way I want & then hate it I will drop it & change sides. That being said...where does it go in the chain? What should the chain look like? (virtually) I have band practice tomorrow & I would rather the guys be stoked about my purchase, the POD, than feeling like I wasted my $ when it was as simple as the getting it set-up correctly. First impressions are everything! ;) Thanks in advance for the help! Rick
bjnette
I don't know if you need the sonic maximizer as the patches can be bright already. The BBE became famous when it first came out and it cost alot, was sort after hired item for putting a tape mix thru as tape the treble because of hiss was attenuated the BBE was for some sparkle as well as some stereo widening effects To add it in your chain the BBE try it on the loop send with a TRS and also just before the amp but stereo on the send returns would work. gunpointmetal
I'd put it ahead of any ambient effects (delays/verbs/chorus)....actually, I'd put it up for sale on Craigslist cause my experience is that it should be called the BBE Lose Your Guitar in The Live Mix. gunpointmetal
I'm not knockin' anyone for using anything, whatever works for you. For me it was like an automatic scoop pedal.
