zhaf
Hi guys, I'm a new user of the pod hd 500x Need some help for a situation that I am in right now. I know I should have used the search bar, I did. But I got so confused at the end I am currently using the current patch above for my tones for my recording/playing at home through my monitors. And I have no problems with that. A few days back, I went for a band practice for the first time with my pod. So I hooked up the pod with the in studio JCM 800 using the 4 cable method. And it sound just like total crap.So I went home, and researched. Found out that I have to use an fx loop block and the pre amp of the amp modeller itself. But I'm still confused actually. So my question is, where do I place the FX block in the pod if i want to use the amp models of my pod instead of the preamp of the amp. And how do i set it all up. It would be good if I have some visual guide. I can't really test it out because I don't have an amp with the fx loop. Plus the jamming studio that i went is 1 hour away and I have to pay to use it. Thank you so much. And sorry for all the trouble
chuberto
Before rushing into the 4CM, what output settings did you use? If you're using 'studio' whilst at home with headphones/monitors it will sound good. But then when you plug into an amp, you really need to change to one of the other settings such as 'stack front'. Try the others too but 'studio' would be the worst in theory. The different settings allow the POD to adapt to the amplification being used. Secondly, the 4CM is great but I'd hate to swap it between different amps frequently. Plug in a POD to a JCM800, you can make it sound great. Then plug it into a Dual Rectifier and the same preset will sound like rubbish. They're very fussy about what you plug into, hence why going straight to desk might be better for consistency.
