Line 6 Monkeys Take Over Nashville
On July 18, 2003, a swarm of red monkeys invaded Nashville, TN. No one in attendance
knew quite what to make of these tone-obsessed primates, but one thing was for
sure, they brought some pretty cool gear with them. Line 6 introduced the new
Vetta II,
an update to the flagship Vetta,
which debuted at the very same place two years ago. The new version features even
more of the best amp models, a wider range of effects, and Variax
connectivity. The new Bass
PODXT line was also introduced. This long awaited
update to the Bass
POD series showcases the best bass tones ever produced with meticulously
crafted amp models, premium EQ and compression, and more effects models than ever
before. It is available in a desktop model (Bass PODXT)
and a rack-mounted version (Bass PODXT Pro).
Line 6 was packed nonstop with musicians, dealers and show staff alike, all
curious to hear what Line 6 brought this year. Adrian Belew and
Bootsy Collins were among the musical royalty that paid us a visit.
There were continuous demos throughout the show in the Line 6 Demo Theater, showcasing
Vetta II, Bass PODXT Pro, Variax, and
HD147. But perhaps the highlight of the show was when famed Spanish beat poet Armando Fink and his band the Swollen Mosquitoes put on their show. Dr. Fink and company played once a day over the three-day show, drawing in huge crowds with smooth, Latin-flavored jazz and poems that left everyone scratching their heads.
In the end a good time was had by all. See you next year, Nashville. Go Predators!
