  1. Hi Datacommando - Hey, that's a very astute observation, and I sincerely thank you for taking the time to respond! :) But yep, that was one of the first things I tried. This (continuing our aviation theme) is a blue sky failure. What worked in December does not work this past week. Any other long-shot possibilities you might propose? Thanks again!
  2. Condolences, Revexodus. "Didn't you spend 19 hours reloading the OS, and drivers, and updating the .Dll's to 00xac0412.27019.AA703, as the timer on your Life Expectancy ticked away?" Manufacturers should take a greater note of this. This was my last Line 6 Product. I bought the Helix Rack *specifically* so I could park it in the Amp Room, and control it from the Control Room. Business is tough-enough nowadays, without having to refund your Clients because the "lollipope" doesn't work. Imagine settling down in the Captain's chair of a 777 at 45,000 feet, and the iPads on the instrument panel say "Flight Director not Recognized". Grrr.
  3. Jeez, folks - same problem here. When I attempt to launch the Editor (Helix on 3.01.0), I get "Helix Device Not Connected". New, and varied USB cables tried; no success. I've spent the morning trying to sort this issue; refunded the Client, who is seething. I'm not doing much better. I just want to use the frappin' stuff I bought and paid for and installed, not take a Masters in Computer Science. This is beyond ridiculous. I'm so ticked I'm MOLTING. I'm going back to analog foot pedals. They work: this lollipope don't. Nonworking Helix Rack on eBay tomorrow: watch for it.
  4. So, I did all the updates, occasioned by a Helix that refused to sync with the Helix app, after working fine last week. I followed (I think) all the instructions. The Helix responded to the update, re-starting when the software told it to. But: Now my Helix is not recognized by my Win 10 machine. "Helix Device not connected." The client, sitting in the studio, paying for time, is somewhat (almost-physically) discomfited. I must refund him money; something neither of us is happy about. For a platform which I'd expect to work, but does not. The Helix "works" just fine, manually, 20 feet from the console... but the usefulness of the Helix app is nil, null, zero. There is Much Unhappiness here. My tongue bleeds from the biting; words not typed, spoken, or otherwise-uttered. I may choke, however, from the Snark yet-unvomited. Respect. Line6 deserves that, at the least. Could anyone suggest a strategy, here, please? No puppies will die due to this, but I'm pretty upset. Thank you!
  5. Hello, fellow Line 6 Helix Users: Hey, I’m in a bit of a quandary. After running the L6 for a few years now, I have bumped into the end (or patience) with the included Presets, or my patience for editing them therewith. I have a couple of nascent, yet-to-be-birthed Projects, that will require more than my programming capabilities permit. I recently stumbled across https://www.glenndelaune.com/helix-patches.htm, who seems to do Helix patches “right”. No stranger with “paying for what you receive, especially in Technology”, I reached out to Glen, and he’d be happy to sell me a Bundle, if I specify what Patches I want. But the problem is, his site doesn’t include a play/sample function – just a list of what patches he offers for sale. So – I’m seeking opinions from those who use / have used his patches, in the format of a L6 Helix, rack-mount. Not that I play “Live” anymore in these C19 days… but I could program whatever I needed if the “sound” was right. Glenn takes a lot of care in what he does, but he can’t be a Librarian to the World. Here’s what I’m after: · Clean, Clear, 1945 – 1952 amps · Classic Country/Western in general · 1980’s (think “The Fixx” Stand or Fall) and the general chorused tones of the era (that weird, over-chorused sound)) I don’t need Molly Hatchet, Smells Like Teen Spirit, System of a Down tones. My collection of axes is large, stout, and itching to Work. Can any of you help? Budget is “as-needed”. I have no aversion to Paying a Professional.
  6. Well, both options work, guys, and thanks! But what Nimrod thought *that* up? Its about as intuitive as a live AC socket in the bottom of a bathtub!! :) I guess the time-honored tradition as "Save as" > "Enter patch location" was too easy to trust to stoopid Guitarists such as I. Cheers!
  7. Remedial stuff, but I can't seem to find it. Let's pretend I take Patch: Templates 04C, and I tweak it. Now I want to save that patch to USER 1 O1A. How do I do that, please?
  8. A couple of questions about the Helix Editor "Utility*" [where "Utility" = "OMG, this thing is a God-send!"] 1. I've looked, but can't find: is there a way to search ALL banks for a specific Patch Name? 2. Does anyone know if this same "Utility" will work with the Helix FX unit? [Albeit with no functionality for the Amp models, etc..., duh.] 3. How does one ensure one has the latest update of the Utility? Thanks, all! Keep Rockin'!! :)
  9. Right you are, guys, and thanks. I have been a victim of a couple of errors: 1. I believed the Marketing hyperbole re:"you'll be building patches in less than an hour" ! :) Nope. I knew the device was a complex [and wonderful, by the way!] beast, but the ads and hype made it seem so easy... 2. I was an Idiot. Having believed the hype, I put the unit immediately into production. Serves me right - the rack and control are in the main studio, and I've been doing setup via the Editor App, 30 feet away in the control room. In retrospect, both the Helix and the Editor work fine - the issue was a PEBCAK error. ["Problem Exists Between Keyboard and Chair"] Couldn't help it; I had a client who wanted a Helix to record through, so I was trying to keep the Customer satisfied. Safe to say, he wasn't, but after explaining the dynamics of this episode, he's cool... and thanks to you guys on this Forum, it'll all turn out well. I've re-booked him in October. I've yanked the unit from the studio, and it's now in my Man Cave, until such a time as I know it inside and out! After spending 20 hours or so just playing with configurations, I'm starting to get to grips with just how deep this thing goes. And I've invited the client over, so he can specify exactly what sounds he's after, and leave it to me to learn how to navigate the Helix to make it happen. A wonderful Learning Scenario. :D I've just got to learn not to be such an Overachiever! Thanks for the support!
  10. Sure-enough. Thanks, all - it *is* in the manual; I just need to learn the terminology. Liberal "auto-gobsmack" has been applied, with my thanks! I appreciate the assist!
  11. A Couple Questions, please! On many YouTube videos, I see screenshots of the Helix where the first (top) signal path, instead of having an Output Arrow (a circle with a right-pointing arrow in it) points down, instead, and then the second path has a arrow at the left, arriving from the first path. See the last image on p21 of the manual. I'm trying to do that, among other things, but in the Block menu there are no "split", "Forward-to", or "Merge" options. All the manual says is "split and merge blocks only appear when selected" - and if they don't already exist, the manual doesn't say where to get them from. Basically, I'm running out of DSP faaaar-too early. Can anyone please describe the steps I'd need to take to: 1. Create the path seen in the last image on p21, where Path 1A feeds directly into Path 1B? 2. ....and then to Path 2A (so I can use the other processor, per the "tips to optimize DSP" on p22)? 3. If no split, forward, or merge blocks appear in the path, where does one get them? I know these are kinda lame questions, but I've been poking at this thing (and the Editor) all day! :) Thanks a million!
  12. Gobsmack has been applied. Serves me right for reading manuals after dinner! Thanks, guys!
  13. I have seen photos and you tubes where the bottom row controls patches, and the top row switches blocks on and off. Having read all the docs, I haven't discovered where this topic is covered. I'd like to set it up the opposite way: patches on the top row, blocks on the bottom. Could someone please punt me (forcibly, if needed) to the correct resource? Thanks!
  14. According to the specs, it's supposed to be, but danged if I can make it work. Can anyone suggest a simple test, to check and see if I have a Service issue?
  15. I have the same issue. Line 6 Pod HD Pro, worked fine with Line 6 Edit in February. When I started it back up last night. I updated Win 7, then via Line 6 Monkey to new pod drivers. No other system changes; the computer is specific to the studio. Now the Poid will not connect. Other USB devices off the same hub work fine; mutiple cable swaps to the Pod have no effect. What is Gearbox, please?
