  1. Hi everyone, I have had a Pod HD500 for quite some time now and really enjoy using it. Recently I have started to explore how I can use it to control other gear via MIDI. I currently use it to control a rack synth module that I bought, and I use it to start/stop backing tracks in iTunes using Bome's MIDI Translator to emulate keyboard strokes. Question - The HD500 turns up in software like Bome's MIDI Translator as a MIDI input device, however what exactly can I do with it? I understand that it doesn't have MIDI over USB so what is this for? I'm sure there's something obvious that I am missing (I often can't see the wood for the trees) but I don't see why this would show up in software if you can't use it for anything. My best guess is it just passes on MIDI messages sent to the Pod's MIDI Input without actually sending MIDI from the Pod itself? Best regards, Rob
  2. Hi toneman, I think I have discovered the problem. I had the MIDI out set to Out/Thru and I'm guessing that set up some sort of feedback loop. I have now set it to Out only and the problem appears to have gone away. Regards, Rob
  3. Dear all, I have had my Pod HD500 from new for a number of years now. Up until the last few weeks it has been working flawlessly. However...... Recently it has started freezing/crashing. To start with it would do it when changing between two particular patches so I figured it was something about the patches it didn't like. I reflashed the firmware and started again and everything was OK for a couple of weeks. Now it freezes when I switch it on. All the lights and the screen light up as they should, however none of the buttons work and I get no sound from it at all. It's also worth noting that the LED on the Tap footswitch is on constantly rather than blinking. Today I have noticed that while the unit is frozen if I start HD Edit sometimes it will come out of the freeze and start working, however then when I close HD Edit it freezes again. I have the unit connected to my PC via USB and also MIDI as I use the pedals start backing tracks in iTunes. Any ideas? Regards, Rob
