  1. Wow. This is a huge help. Thank you very much for this. I can't say I look forward to removing the main board from the housing, ha. Seems like a lot of trouble.
  2. All right. So my #1 encoder is tweaking. It just is. It doesn't cycle through correctly. It's also relatively loose. Would like to replace if I can't fix it. Is this the right thing? https://www.fullcompass.com/prod/167933-line-6-24-12-0111-20-step-encoder If not, what is? I might also want to replace the potentiometer for the Master control. It still works but it's also loose. Wiggles more than I would like. It seems like the shaft is loose, and not the pot itself. Can't seem to find replacement pots which specifically list HD500(X) compatibility. A little info? Thanks.
  3. So yeah, finally got the 500X. Really stoked about it, but I've got a lot ahead of me on my journey to POD HD enlightenment. Though the question I have isn't exclusively related to it. Basically, what I'd like to do live is play with a pre-recorded bass track. Drummer would be listening to a click track, and the bass track would be coming from a laptop into the 500X, and through the XLR out. But how could I separate the bass from the sound of the metronome? The first thought I had was getting some sort of stereo splitter, and panning the bass & click track hard left and right. Bass track would go into the CD/MP3 input, and metronome would go into drummer's headphones obviously. And then I wondered, would it be possible to rout the two tracks to output separately in my DAW? One going 1/8 in. aux out and the other going USB out? That's not something I've done before. The only DAWs I use are Acid Pro and FL Studio, by the way. Thanks.
  4. Those are the dimensions as told by the internets, but it doesn't seem right. I don't know. I finally got mine just the other day, and there's no way it's 6 in. deep -- even with the pedal. I'll just measure it myself later.
  5. I, too, am looking for a good case that won't completely demolish the wallet. So far, I've had a hard time finding one with all the right dimensions. 14 x 29.8 x 6 in. are the dimensions of the 500X. The same for the HD500 I'm sure. A few are long enough, but not deep enough. It would be nice to find one long enough to accompany the Mission Engineering pedal, too.
  6. I was also going to shed light on the volume factor. I think that's a pretty big one that extends beyond even the Fletcher-Munson effect. Of course there's that, but I believe there's also a significant difference in frequency response throughout the volume spectrum between bedroom levels and gig levels. As you probably know, your speakers are going to react differently at different volumes. That, plus the Fletcher-Munson effect, plus other frequencies washing out yours, equals bad. I think more than anything it's a frequency/EQ battle. Mick Thomson talks about the difference in EQ between his recording sound and his live sound. So there's that, there's also the fact that you're using the clean channel. I think that's a pretty big factor too. You may get it to sound good at low volumes but you're essentially using two different pre-amps. As you know, every pre-amp has its own voicing and clean ones are no exception. So, in a way, your signal is going through a filter before hitting the power-amp. This usually translates poorly in a live situation. Try using an FX loop if possible.
