No please don't misunderstand he modded a modern PTP BB back to 60's specs and KT66 tubes and he got pretty close. And thank you. RAR

Gentlemen Thanks for the helpful posts. I checked out that article and it was great but then oddly enough he didn't really get close to the sound at all. There is YT post where the amp tech mods a modern Marshall Bluesbreaker and he gets pretty close. RAR

HI Guys I am trying to learn about Clapton's famous Bluesbreaker Album tone. I am aware that he used a 1960? Les Paul and that he played through a dimed custom built JTM-45. (I think) Does anyone hear know if a patch for such tone has been created? Thank you. RAR

HI Thank you but I am having trouble seeing this? How do I see this patch? thanks RAR

hI guys I was messing around with the settings for the "Bottle Message" and I thought I had saved it to another spot so I could mod it. Well I didn't and I think I deleted an effect? Does anyone know where I can see whether there was flanger with "Bottle Message" patch? Was it "Courtesan flanger" ? Thanks Russell

Decode the names of stock sounds and "pedals"
randrewrussell replied to randrewrussell's topic in Helix
Hey Great thank you very much RAR -
Hey can anyone here provide a list that explains what the stock sounds correlate to ? I have no idea what "New Jimmy" means or others for that matter. I wish there was a post where the device names etc were decoded. I assume trademark issues prevent Helix from using or explaining what each boost, delay, overdrive is supposed to be mimicking. I would like to try and sort out my "pedals" for a pure BOSS board or find a chorus that matches a vintage CE-1 but who can do that when they don't tell you what is what. thanks

Really good question. maybe around 240 ms ? I am looking at trying to get his FCA sound as well I know he used a Leslie with varying speeds. A phase 90. I am not sure which echo he used but I am guessing a Bin tape?

No I can see them on the Helix FB but only in the IR "box" but I can't seem to access them in any manner. I guess I am doing a poor job of explaining myself. As I said earlier, when I look them up with IR button (which is to the right of the presets) I see the list of the IRs but the first two spots are "Empty" the you see the list of all the IRs after that. BUT I can't see those on the right. After I read the earlier posts I got a better understanding of where to look, i.e., the IRs are found as "box" just like any other effect. They are not a "Preset"! But I thought based on what I see with other effects, that I should be able to see each separate IR as a separate "effect". Thanks for your help

oK well understand it better after the last post. If I am correct the IRs are a building block of the preset that GD is putting together. I can't really mess with them. Thanks
-
Ok I can see where the IRs should be by using the preset button and then the block etc but I all see is two samples and not the ones from GD. I can also see the GD IRs in the Helix editor but I can't seem to get them to the board. The first two slots in the editor are empty and then I can see all the IRs but I can't edit them or anything like that. I am sorry but any suggestions? thanks RAR

I am so new to all of this but I am really impressed with all the tones from this Helix FB- really amazing. I am working on a James Honeyman Scott sound from Pretenders live 1981 (Santa Monica) and I think that the Helix unit might be the cheapest way to get there. JHS had some 200 watt Marshall "Majors" modded by Peter Cornish I am told and they were so unique that Jackson Browne ended up buying them from the estate. It was a thick lush watery sound and he used Boss and Cornish effects and had a pedal board that was designed by Cornish. Pete told me that he personally hotrodded the sound with treble boost and a Roland Space Echo 501 and Boss CE 1. I recall that Pete said that he borrowed a lot from the Gilmour SOS sound but gave it a sort of Ronnie Wood Faces crunch. You can hear what I am talking about very clearly if you listen to the Pretenders live Santa Monica concert which was broadcast live September 1981. Sadly most if not all the equipment disappeared after his death so that sound has not been heard again. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey Guys I just purchased a used Helix with labels. The previous owner had purchased IRs from Greg Delaune and they are on the Helix Editor but I can't see them on the floorboard itself. I also can't "load" them and listen to them or use them. I am not sure I even understand what they are as is obvious by this post. Can someone help me? Thanks RAR
