Gearbox Randomly Raises Volume To 77 All By Itself! %$#&%!

I have exactly the same problem. On certain sounds I use, the volume control on gearbox goes to max all by itself. It happens within seconds usually. The drive knob sometimes moves around on it's own too. I have no idea what is causing it. Windows 8 I am using. It is now impossible to record!
