  1. Thank you for the info, I will definitely be trying this CD input method
  2. Thanks for the info. I had a feeling there was cab emulation, i might have to try those cd inputs to at least hear the difference myself
  3. Yeah there is a lot of conflicting information all over the internet on this. According to this article from L6, what i am doing is acceptable http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/general-faq/cabinet-connection-and-ohm-faq-r436 Any ideas on why that one speaker won't work just in 16ohm mode? Its the same even with the L6 head going 16 to 16.
  4. Yeah that is the matching head for the cab. I have one but am currently using a different head with the cab since I am now using the Helix. I am using the Crate Powerblock. It has 8ohm mono (150w) and two stereo outs at 4ohm (75w). According to a L6 FAQ I followed, Im running the 8ohm mono to the left mono in of the cab running 16ohm.
  5. Did you run through the input or fx return?
  6. I have the slanted 4x12 cab for the Spider Valve MkII. Might be a dumb question.. but what would cause the bottom right speaker to stop working only when the cab is switched to 16ohm? It seems to work just fine when at 4ohm.
  7. Hello all... hoping someone here with a Crate Powerblock could be of assistance. I usually run my Helix through an Alto TS212 but for an upcoming gig I pulled out my 4x12 (v30's) and my Powerblock. I tried setting up some patches running into the return and running into the input with all knobs set to noon on the Powerblock. To me it seems more alive through the input but sounds a bit weird, probably because I'm running through the input... then when I run through the return it is very dark/dull sounding. I have read multiple arguments online in regards to the powerblock of cab emulation in the input, return, etc, etc. I can't seem to find or understand where the cab emulation really is or if it is even there at all in the Powerblock. I'm just trying to power my cab and not do anything fancy...let the Helix do the work, ya know? Any thoughts or tips? Not running any cabs or IRs in the Helix and the output in the preferences is set to Line.
  8. Try the 4x12 Cali with the 421 mic. I think it sounds really good with most of the high gain amps. Dual Recto is a good place to start but also try the Mark IV, Modded JCM800 and the Ubersonic
  9. Thanks! It's sounding pretty good with dual recto cab's
  10. I was wondering if anyone was able to come up with an amp/cab combination to create an amp sound close to a VH4. Hopefully we get one in a future update but for now I thought I would see if anyone had any luck with existing options.
  11. I find with high gain it is best placed BETWEEN the amp and cab block. Give it a try. To me it sounded better than before the amp or after the cab.
  12. Thanks for all the assistance! A combination of cutting down to 8k and combining IRs helped quite a bit. I'm definitely going to try out the 2x12 IR as well. Thanks again!
  13. New to IRs and decided to try a pack from 3 Sigma. I bought the Mesa Oversized 4x12 and haven't had much luck with it..just doesnt sound that good. I'm trying to use it with the Cali Rectifier for a metal sound. Is there a trick to tackling these vs standard Helix cabs? Has anyone tried the oversized Mesa cab? http://www.3sigmaaudio.com/items/mesa-oversized-rectifier/
  14. New user here, quick question - which microphones in the Helix are specifically for bass guitar and bass cabinets?
