I can't find anything regarding the use of the Nektar Pacer with a POD HD except that apparently presets exist so it must work.

The FCB1010 looks a bit too tedious to deal with. Any knowledge on the Nektar Pacer?

My FBV mkii broke some time ago so I've just been switching patches the old school way. I was looking for a new FBV Shortboard MKii but they're now discontinued, and so not in stock anywhere and unfortunately very rare in used condition in my area, which even when they do pop up are usually being sold with POD units or cabs and so on. FBV 3 is a last resort, given the price. I've been looking into MIDI foot controllers and I sort of get the impression they can work with POD HD, but to what extent is not clear.. The Nektar Pacer seems like it could work as it has a POD preset, but I cannot find a video of anyone using this combination. Could anyone give me the rundown on alternative foot controllers? I only need to switch between the 4 channels and activate as many stomps as I can. I don't care for DAW control, setlists, loopers.. Just channel the 4 channels and a bunch of stomps will do. Optional external exp for wah and volume is good but whatever is okay. FCB1010 looks alright, but whether it works or not I don't know?

Unfortunately it doesn't. Might think about upgrading. Thanks!

Crazy question. Is it possible to record POD HD Desktop using the USB (so i can re-amp and all that) but still using my Focusrite 2i4 as the interface?

POD HD Line Out Mono or Stereo?
Jasipi replied to Jasipi's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
Ah. Sooo, there is no loss of quality or anything and it's fine to record out of one output? -
Hey. I use POD HD desktop line outs into Focusrite 2i4. Just wondering whether it matters if i use both left and right line outs or if i can just use the left? I don't use dual amp settings or any effects panning so it should be okay to dual track mono and pan left and right in my DAW and it'll sound the same yeah?

FBV Shortboard Mkii - POD HD Desktop

I'll check it out. Thanks for the help! -
FBV Shortboard Mkii - POD HD Desktop
Jasipi replied to Jasipi's topic in FBV Controllers (MKI / MKII / 3)
There is indeed, i figured it out. It was explained in the HD Desktop FAQ here on Line6. If you hold the Enter button the pedal assign menu appears and you can press the foot switches and it will assign for you. I suppose it is silly to ask, but with the FBV Shortboard MKii i can only assign 4 effects to be controlled, plus wah or volume, right? -
FBV Shortboard Mkii - POD HD Desktop
Jasipi replied to Jasipi's topic in FBV Controllers (MKI / MKII / 3)
Is that the only way to do it? And would i have to do this every time i create a new patch? I was hoping to be able to change the settings on the unit without connecting to a PC. -
Hey. Not sure what the deal is with the Stomp, Modulation, Delay and Reverb switches. They trigger a different effect on each of my patches. Not sure how to assign the correct switches to the right pedals?

The house i'm living in is brand new, my roommates and i are the first occupants. Line 6 also says the 2 pin DC-3g adapter is fine. I have no clue what to do about it. Whatever the case i give up, it's too confusing for me to care about anymore lol..
-
Line 6 support at the moment is saying the POD has to be serviced. I'm not happy about that though..

Well if you happen to get one of these "power conditioners", please let me know if it works.

I tried a few different cables and sets of headphones, also a couple of other guitars. Though, two of the three cables were the same model, as were two of the three sets of headphones, but still all the same buzz. One guitar had single coil pickups so that doesn't help much (the buzz was about the same anyway). The other guitar had humbuckers, and was old but had about the same buzz also. By the way my guitar is an 8 string guitar with DiMarzio D-Activator 8's. The guitar i mentioned that did not buzz was a 6 string with DiMarzio Crunch Lab/Liquifire pickups. So both these guitars had fairly hot pickups and both setup and wired by the same tech. Is it normal for the buzz to change if i touch the POD? I'm still curious about whether the two pinned DC adapter is the problem?
-
Not sure why but if i plug a studio monitor into the headphone jack it doesn't work. If i plug headphones into the line out, either left or right it still buzzes just the same. Does this help at all?
-
Hey all. I've got some buzz going on when using headphones. It may be the guitar but my tech swears it's all good. I had a guitar not long ago that had no buzz with the exact same cables and everything so i don't know. Here's the thing though, it really only buzzes through headphones. When i have the POD running line outs L/R to studio monitors the buzz is hardly there (even through headphones out of the POD), and similarly when running through my Focusrite 2i4 and out of the studio monitors or headphones (out of 2i4) there is hardly any buzz. Now, even if i plug one line out from the POD into a studio monitor that isn't even being powered (but still plugged in) the noise is reduced a great deal. I tried turning off every powerpoint, light and ceiling fan in my bedroom but the buzz remains the same. The buzz is a tiny bit more quiet when i touch the strings or if i touch the POD, and pretty much disappears when i touch the screws on the 5-way switch, metal on the ends of the cable or on the headphone 1/4" jack adapter in the POD. I've been wondering if it could have anything to do with having a 2 pin power source? I don't know too much about it but from what i've read my adapter doesn't have the "earth/ground" pin. Could this be why it is buzzing? My studio monitors have 3 pin adapters so maybe that's why the POD is silent whenever they're plugged in? Thanks!

Ah, well i can't afford that haha Hopefully it can work the way i want it to, but if not i guess i'll just use the POD as the interface. It's the 'Direct Monitor' feature i mostly want to use, so i can play without latency. The best latency settings on my PC still cause me trouble and the cleans on all my amp plugins are worse than my Marshall MG15 Thanks!

Thanks man! I've never used spdif before, where does the cable plug into? To be clear, are you saying i can use the 1/4" outs on the POD to record the processed guitar tone and the spdif to get the dry signal which can be used for reamping in my DAW?
-
I'm thinking of purchasing a POD HD Desktop. I may consider using the POD interface if it works well enough. Previous POD interfaces have made latency a big issue for me and turned me off of home recording, but the 2i4 made it all better. Seemingly the only plugin that would work properly with the POD UX2 was POD Farm, and oddly enough POD Farm won't work with my 2i4 so.. Maybe the POD HD is better but i haven't purchased it yet so i don't know. Anyways i just want to know if using the 1/4" outs on the POD HD Desktop will work. I got the idea from this video: at about 2:15. Seems to work for Misha and his Axe FX but i can't really see what he's doing. Will it work for the POD? Also i would like to know if the XLR input on the POD HD Desktop can be used with my condenser & dynamic mics for vocals or acoustic guitar?

I've never recorded with a device like a POD before so i'm not sure how to go about it. I don't want to use the POD as an interface though, i want to use my Scarlett 2i4. Do i plug the L+R 1/4" outs into the 2i4? I've been reading something about the quality being reduced due to signal conversions or something so i don't know what the deal is there. I heard some other stuff about the S/PDIF being the way to go but i've never used that before. I was hoping to just use the 1/4" outs on the POD into the 2i4, then engage the 2i4's 'Direct Monitor" feature to just hear the POD straight out of my studio monitors with no latency as i record instead of going through the computer. Can it work that way and would it be practical? If there is a way to get the dry signal for reamping as well that would be handy, but i can live without it. I'm not super tech savvy so thanks for any help!
-
Awesome! I feel pretty set on buying one.
-
I suppose i never considered the reamping thing. If the tones on the HD Desktop are good enough then i suppose i wouldn't need to reamp anyway. I use a Focusrite 2i4 now but i did originally use a POD UX2 which didn't make my plugins any different. My amp sims just don't translate my guitar's sound properly, especially split coil positions. It almost sounds like my guitar has rubber strings, if that makes any sense? Like the detail of the steel strings just don't translate into POD Farm very well and a lot of the acoustic sort of detail is lost, so it sounds very bland. It's not so bad for distorted tones but i can't handle the clean tones at all, they just aren't working for me. Is the POD HD Desktop any better? I plan to use the "direct monitoring" feature on the 2i4 so i just monitor the tone from the POD straight to my monitors so there is no latency.

I have POD Farm but it's garbage. In particular the clean amp models don't respond very well to my playing and i prefer to record with a Marshall MG15CF lol.. I'm considering purchasing the HD Desktop for recording and just as a portable amp that i could use headphones with if i need. Demos of the HD Desktop sound good but since i can't play through it myself i cannot tell if it responds to a guitar like a normal amplifier would (if that makes sense). Can anyone give me a few details about how it sounds. Would it be just like playing through a Spider amp except with better quality tones, if you get what i mean?
