I am considering this mod?? does anyone know how much different it is from the old Strymon mod?? as the main issue(from my understanding!) is even though the Spider Valves have a tube power section the input of the amp is solid state which still gives the amp a solidstate feel(lack sag and feel ect ect) like running a processor into a tube power amp(it just isn't a true all tube sound/feel!) why Line6 didn't correct this is way beyond me as they were so close in getting things right!! I was wondering if the Tarantula mod addressed same issues as the Strymon Sv-pre mod?? I believe they added an additional tube in front of the input section so that it is all analog/tube??(it always had great reviews, however it's no longer available!) When I called Kruse they wouldn't give me much info on how it worked or what work was actually gonna be performed with their mod?,they only said it was better than the Stymon mod??! even though this company/guy is real reputable I just wanted to make sure its not like a performance chip for a car that says UP to an addition 100hp and UP to 20 more mpg's lol(key words up to not it actually does lol!,Obviously some mods are total gimmics and total scam like a $2 part that does nothing and they charge $50-$200 for it??) I don't need actual schematics, but would like a simple break down of what is being done to my amp!(like were adding this or that!,rewiring this or that, adding a tube bla bla bla(you get point! What would be awesome is someone who has had a Strymon SV-pre mod and also tested the Tarantula Mod!!! as I believe most potential buyers are or were aware of the SV-pre mod and since its no longer available would like to find a good replacement! as the Spider Valve(modded) is a killer amp for the $!!! I've owned most of the boogies incl Triple rectifiers,Marshalls(800,900's,Marshall 30w Artist 3203,Jmp's),5150's,racks of gear like digitech2101 Artist(dual S-chip) into a Marshall 9200(believe it or not was my fav but weighed a ton!) Boogie 290,Carvin tube power amps quad-x,B-52's,you name it lol!! long story short for a cover band the Spider Valve is about most versatile for the money!(especially modded!) the B-52(poor mans Boogie) would be great for the $ if it had midi thru(for effects!) hopefully someone has some insight on this situation?? Thanks Jim(814)493-7199 also interested in a modded Spider Valve or looking for either brand mod(used ect) by itself!
