Just wanted to share my experience with a particular scribble strip issue, hope this can be helpful.
tl;dr I fixed a glitchy scribble strip by cleaning and/or reconnecting the LCD flex cable.
At some point my HX Effects unit developed a particular issue with one of its scribble strip LCDs. It would start and run normally for a couple of minutes, then part of the pixels would shift left or right, some of the lines would dim, only a quarter of the screen would refresh when going into menus etc. (see pics and video)
I was going to order a replacement LCD, but the fact that it worked fine for some time after startup made me think it may be a temperature-related contact issue. So I disassembled the unit enough to get access to the LCD flex cable slots, released the cable (as shown in this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnOmFijBYIM), cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol and put it back in the slot. I’m not sure if it’s the cleaning or resetting the cable that helped, but hey, the scribble strip is fine now!
This likely won’t help with dead pixels on some LCDs (seems to be a totally different issue), but it seems to work for this particular case.
