  1. When I first got my JTV-59, I connected it to a Morley ABY switch. The switch has 1/4" outputs, one went to my amp, the other went directly to the PA mixing desk - it worked very well. (the desk inputs are xlr, so I used a 1/4"/xlr cable from switch to desk). However, to 'beef up' the acoustic sounds from the JTV-59 I have now inserted a Palmer DI box between the ABY switch and the PA. Now I can lower the gain on the mixing desk channel which makes the acoustic sounds better to my ears - but apart from that, the JTV-59 works very nicely hooked up directly to the PA. I use 6- and 12-string acoustic guitar sounds as well as resonator and sitar sounds. Sometimes electric guitar through my amp, sometimes acoustic guitar through the PA - and sometimes even acoustic 12-string both at the same time (the ABY switch allows me to do that). Great variety in sounds ;-) Hope my comments are useful.
  2. Started out with backing up my patches - then updating the Monkey. Updated firmware and Workbench HD to 2.10 - everything seemed OK ... Now patches cannot be written to JTV-59 - error 80007104 Reflashed firmware and reinstalled Workbench several times. Tried to reload back-up patches - still cannot be written to JTV-59. Ended up rolling back to 2.0 - first attempt of reloading back-up patches seemed to run OK, but left JTV-59 completely blank. Next try was successful, now my old patches are back in my JTV-59. Mac OS Mavericks USB interface (no POD) JTV-59 Fully charged battery (I have two, tried with both) Where did I go wrong?
  3. Thanks - exactly the same bug I have tried to explain in my earlier post ... string levels are very inconsistent, too - can be tweaked though. Anyone experienced the 'dead' B-string (no treble) when using the 'neutral body'?
  4. Sorry, my bad - the bad patch is 'Spank 2' ... (edited my post)
  5. Spent some time again today testing the new update - re-flashed and re-installed everything: - still have to get used to the new Strat-patches. And the problem with the 'position 2' patch is still there: in WB both mid and bridge pu's are shown as 'on' - but the bridge pu is silent. When it is turned off and on again, the 'quack' sound is there - but patch can't be saved to the Variax - when switching to another patch and back to 'position 2' patch, bridge pu is silent again, although WB shows it as 'on' ..??? Another bug: when using the 'neutral' body , the B-string lacks all treble - no matter what pu is chosen. Sounds really bad, almost like a palm-muted string. All other strings have normal treble ..???
  6. Very disappointed with the new Strat sounds, too. I have noticed what seems to be a bug: The patch 'spank 4' is shown in Workbench HD: both pickups (mid and bridge) are on - but bridge pickup is silent, sound is only mid pickup. If you turn bridge pickup off and on, sound is on. But after saving and writing to Variax, bridge pickup is silent again. Anyone?
