Ben Vesco has updated his Helix DSP Allocations info to reflect Helix v3.50. Find it at http://benvesco.com/store/helix-dsp-allocations/. Giving it a quick look, we see direct proof of the reduced DSP for the new cab engine & 1024/2048 bit IR's. For example, legacy mono cabs in Helix consume 9.60, with the new cab engine, mono cabs consume 3.33. The new Moo)))n amps appear to be middle of the pack DSP-wise. PV Vitriol amps are the highest of all the amps, which is a surprise. What was saved on the cabs - goes into better amp modelling I suppose! Some great work here by Ben Vesco. Support him if you can by buying some of his stuff!

I was taking advantage of Black Friday pricing on Helix Native & discovered a download link for HX Edit Pilots Guide 3.50. Find it by going to Line 6 Store, Software, Select Helix Native at https://shop.line6.com/software/plug-ins/helix-native.html. Scroll to the bottom and click on the Support tab and it has links for HX Edit Pilot Guide 3.5 and Helix Native Pilot Guide 3.5 in English and Japanese (?). I've downloaded it, in English of course, and the updates appear to be more in the list of amps/cabs/effects in the appendix than in the body of the doc. Good to read through, particularly for the section on the new Cabs engine. Enjoy!

As Cruisinon2 states, yes, you can do this easily with Helix, either of two ways: 1) do it onboard using SAVE function, then selecting Setlist and Preset to overwrite. See Helix Owner Manual for the exact steps. Then practice it yourself. 2) use HXEdit, which provides copy and paste functions that are easy to use. See HX Edit Pilot's Guide for the exact steps. In my experience, HX Edit is far faster to use to 'group' your presets. Further Suggestion: after you have established your group of presets, rename a blank preset to be a 'separator' for groupings of presets. Eg '--Sadites' or '--Dual Amps' or what have you. Make sure the separators are on a numbered preset number that is a multiple of 4: when paging through the presets, you will see your separator preset, then all the actual ones following in the same bank. Helps remind you of your groupings as you work with your Helix! Good luck

Agree with other posters that using powered Studio Monitors with Helix is the way to go for a wonderfully rich sound. I went this way several modellers back & never looked back. Be sure to use XLR cable connections if you can - less noise than 1/4" TR cables & Helix output is at line level so you will get lots of signal into the monitors. My Helix is connected into my PC via 20' USB cable and it works perfectly. On the PC I have a sound card on the motherboard & I can switch back and forth between Helix-as-soundcard-with-awesome-monitors and the PC sound card that feeds a cheap Logitech stereo speakers with sub. You just have to be careful to select which sound card is active on the PC and you are away to the races. Stands for the monitors is a must as well: get the speakers aiming at your head from where you play guitar. This helps ensure you are not getting any near-field sound deadening or reflections from carpet or hardwood - ensuring a flatter response and 'smiles for miles'. Hope this helps and enjoy your Helix!
