  1. Hey all, I left a comment in the JTV 2.0 Try This thread regarding my update experience. Spank bank 4 is now working but 2 is still not holding the pickup selection. I have opened a ticket and will try the work around for now. Other comments on the 2.0 update. 1) The Specials sound much better to me now and may become my goto. 2) In 1.9 and earlier the tone knob needed to be rolled back a touch, in 2.0 that no longer seems to be the case, at least for me. 3) Really digging the new work bench, setting up and saving alt tunings and writing them to the guitar was a breeze and I like the visual interface. Update, to get position 2 to save used the process specified above. Must be a problem with the orignal bridge pick up.
  2. Good morning all. My experience so far. JTV69 Korea, I moved to 2.0 from 1.9 last Saturday and noticed the spank 2 and 4 issues that are much talked about here so this morning I decided to reflash. Since 2.0 was already installed I just did the reinstall from latest. At the second reinitializing prompt the interface on the guitar side turned red and I got the unpsecified MIDI error. Not panicking yet, I unplugged the guitar and tried again with the same result. Slight panick but... reflashed to 1.82. This one worked. So try going to 2.0 again and success. Went ahead and reflashed one more time as instructed and a second succesful update. The quack is back, though not as pronounced. At least in the 4 position. Fire up work bench, spank bank position 4 shows neck and middle pickups engaged but position 2 only shows the middle. Engage the bridge, sounds good, upload to variax, slight difference, download from variax, bridge pickup is not engaged. I have opened a ticket.
  3. Hey thorneven. I have been using the D'Addario super lights (9 - 42) for ever. I have a 69k and did not even play the guitar before I swapped the strings out. Had to adjust the bridge as it was not floating at all when received and some minor intonation adjustment. The neck has been fine. I am also already used to jumbo frets so my fingers don't hit the fret board that often anyway so I have not noticed an issue with pressing the string all the way down.
  4. Hey Edgar, I have a 69 and the first thing I did was put 9's on it, can't bend the 10's. I have always used D'Addario. Strings not withstanding, the bridge was pretty much all the way back when I got the guitar, it was not floating at all. With it pulled back the intonation will probably be iffy so I would suggest adjusting the bridge first if it's not floating and then redo the intonation before changing the strings again. Once the bridge was level the intonation needed minor adjustment but settled in nicely. And the neck did not need any adjustment with the lighter gauge strings.
