  1. That is a really useful document thanks for pointing it out. In the meantime I have solved the problem by looking once again at all of the levels in the signal path before, inside, and after the POD. It was harder than I thought, but now it's great. Thanks to everyone for their help and suggestions.
  2. I hope someone can help. I am trying to build a pedalboard around my POD HD500x. My plan is to run some mono effects into the POD, then use POD Mono effects, then go out thro' the FX Loop into stereo effects then back into the POD, use Stereo POD effects and then out into a Stereo Looper. So far the only way I can get anything out of the FX Loop is shown in the picture attached, but it isn't stereo. What is also very confusing is that when I place the effects in a straight line with only one amp, the FX Loop works well when I listen with headphones, but is not there on the 1/4 output !! I must be doing something wrong, I have seen it can be done on Youtube video's but none of the of the video's explain how to do it.
  3. I was on the verge of buying an HD500 a couple of weeks ago, in the end I didn't go ahead with it as they had no more stock in the shop and I didn't want an ex-display model. Reading these posts I think it was a lucky break as I'd be more than miffed to shell out a lot of cash, only to find my new pride and joy outdated a couple of weeks later. I guess business is business but I think it is a bit off of Line 6 to cynically sell of their existing stock of 'old' product at full price to unsuspecting customers, who are buying what they think is the best option for them in good faith. Couldn't they be open about the new POD, and sell the old one at a reduced price...... The more I think about it, the less I think I will eventually buy a POD, as this leaves a bit of a bad taste in the mouth.
  4. I bought a 89F a few weeks ago, for me, it sounds and plays superbly. You get a wide variety of tones with the 5 way selector playing the guitar normally, and other than the acoustics options, I haven't yet felt the urge to use the guitar modelling. I think it is an excellent guitar.
  5. Thanks for the advice. I hadn't thought about downloading the manuals, that's a good idea. I don't have a laptop but if I can do everything on the POD that'll be fine for me. Thanks for your help.
  6. Hi, I'm a total newb on this, I've never posted on any forums before, so apologies if my etiquette is not correct ! A couple of weeks ago I bought a Variax Guitar. I'm now thinking about buying an HD500 (or 500X!) but when I went to the guitar shop whilst they let me fiddle with it in a music room they didn't really answer any of my questions. They're pretty basic and probably even been asked and answered before, but I can't find anything. a) I see that editing can be done on a PC, but can the device be fully programmed without a PC. I play guitar in the spare room, and the PC is in the living room. I don't want to have to carry everthing across the house just to tweak things. b) If I connect with the VDI does this give anything more than powering the guitar. Does it give any access to different effects, for example. Any help or feedback is very much appreciated. Thanks.
