  1. Thanks for the quick reply! I had read another thread about the wet/dry possibility, but I'm only really interested in dry (for now, at least). I was more wondering whether the difference in quality of the dry signal would be enough to affect the final tone in any significant way. But it sounds like maybe I should save my money.
  2. This is a question for anyone who is using or has used their Pod as a USB interface for recording with software amp sims. It may seem counterintuitive when there are so many dedicated USB interfaces out there in the same price range, but the fact is I've already got a Pod HD desktop, and I can get some decent sounds running it dry (amps/effects turned off) into my DAW+VST amps via USB. With a 256k ASIO buffer on my C2D machine, I don't have any noticeable latency either. What I'm wondering is if I'd get a noticeable improvement in recording quality if I used something like a Focusrite or Presonus USB interface instead of the Pod for DAW-based plugins? If the difference is minimal to nothing, I don't see any reason to buy another piece of hardware for recording with amp sims (lepou, amplitube, etc.). Am I missing something? Can anyone who's used both weigh in?
  3. That's great, and thanks for the quick reply. Now all I have to do is wait for the adapter to arrive. The HD already sounds great after the preamp... if this setup will work, I can sell my tubesreamer and decimator. Fewer pedals, cables, and plugs. :)
  4. Do I need to be worried about the whole balanced/unbalanced thing with the mic input? What I've read is that everything but the mic in on the POD is unbalanced. So if I buy a regular balanced 1/4" female --> male XLR adapter, am I going to be okay running an unbalanced 1/4" cable from the amp's send into that adapter? Or could I use a 1/4" male --> XLR male adapter, and combine that with a normal balanced female-male XLR cable? I've read numerous threads elsewhere about balanced vs unbalanced, so I'm not hoping to go off-topic here, just looking for cable/adapter possibilities that will work.
  5. Hey, guys, I've been lurking for a long time, but now I've got something no one seems to have asked before. I've seen numerous cases where people want to run their POD into the effects loop of the Tubemeister series, but I'm trying to go the other way. I want to (safely) run the Tubemeister's Redbox out into the Pod HD desktop's guitar input. (Please note that I am talking about the bean here, not the Pro, which not only has a line level input but a volume pad as well.) Very simple signal chain. TM18 Redbox out (XLR) --> XLR to 1/4" cable --> Pod HD guitar in (amp sim disabled, only a little reverb) --> USB out to PC or Mac Just plugging in like this, I heard no clipping while on direct monitor. However, there was some popping in the recordings I did, which was eliminated by reducing the volume on the POD's mixer to about -5dB left and right. My question: Is this safe??? I hear no clipping now, so I'm hoping that means I'm not overloading anything inside the POD with the hot signal from the Tubemeister Redbox out. I was prepared to either purchase an in-line attenuator or even a separate recording interface, but if I don't need them, I'd rather not spend the money.
