  1. Hi everyone, not sure if this will be useful for you but it is for me so thought i'd share it. I wish that the pod edit software would be able to export patch information to a file that could be opened in a spreadsheet application for saving, printing, or just "patch analysis" moments when you may want to compare patches type scenarios. Not everyone works this way granted, but I find it useful to have everything written down, so I created my own template. Feel free to use it as you wish... POD HD500 PATCHES SETTINGS.xls Here is an example of it filled out... I am new to programming my pod, and this is a rushjob I did last night in front of a friends pa to get used to creating patches.....not the one I'll be using it with as it's not setup at the moment. It's not finished yet, so don't expect it to sound like Brightside just yet... PA TESTED MR BRIGHTSIDE.xls
  2. love the idea on the first page of this thread of different coloured footswitch lighting to indicate the "family" of fx used on a patch. I reckon that's a great idea. Currently, I have used a "brother labeller" to create labels and stuck them on the slope underneath the footswitches to indicate what turns what off and on again. (I only use a handful of fx, and always put the same fx to the same footswitch). The other things i'd like to see are the ability to remove the looper from the fx chain so you can free up another fx slot. This may be possible, I just haven't been able to find out how to do it. On my 500x the looper is the last in the chain, and it's always there, with no obvious way to remove it. (I don't use the looper function at all). The other thing i'd like to see is the hd edit software program be able to export the patch settings to a datafile that could be opened in a spreadsheet. At the moment for the half a dozen patches that I will use live, I have written them down on a spreadsheet template I've created so I can take them to a gig in my bag, just in case I do something wrong and stuff up a patch. Or, in case the unit loses a patch by itself, or resets or whatever.... Also, having them written down on paper, means I can compare visually at a glance the differences between patches that I might want really similar, but maybe with more/less gain, more fx presence....that sort of thing. Would love to see an export feature implemented. Not sure if it would be usefull for others, but if you would like a copy of my template, message me, and i'll email it to you. I'll also start a new thread with the template as an attached file.
  3. Hi everyone, just a couple of quick questions regarding my new 500x... 1. Is there a way where you can either on the pod itself or using the edit software, to easily "delete" a patch? Or do you have to go to the patch you don't want anymore, and manually remove everything... 2. The edit software looks like a really useful timesaver when compiling patches, but is there a way where you can print out the data of each created patch? For me, i'd like to be able to keep a folder of all my patches I create over time as a hard copy, so if needed, I can rebuild patches if I am away from my computer... Cheers in advance, bignath
  4. thanks for the replies guys...really appreciate you taking the time to help me out. What you described above is exactly what I ended up trying out actually. I have a mixing desk at home with some nice Yamaha studio monitors, and it sounds ok, but due to the limited volume I can push through them, I wasn't sure if it would come out sounding the same when I eventually run it through a full size pa, and also wasn't sure if it would be ok to run the amp from a studio / direct setting. Anyway, tried it out, seems to work ok, even though I know I will most likely have to tweak my patches when I can eventually run it through the band pa. Thanks again for your replies.
  5. Hi there, First time poster here... I have just recently grabbed a POD HD500X which I am amazed by, and have a gig coming up in the next few weeks and would like to use it as opposed to my pedalboard and amp. I have done a forum search but couldn't locate the answer I needed (might have used wrong terminology?) Is it possible to run the POD HD500X into the PA direct, and also use my amp on stage so that we have "some" stage volume? I can run it through the PA and just route it in the pa back through my foldback (and everyone elses) but some of the other band members would prefer me to still have an amp on stage for monitoring of my guitar signal as opposed to just using foldback. Im not sure why......maybe they are just a bit timid of jumping through the "first time with no amp on stage" hoops.....dunno. Anyway, is this technically possible to do? Or can you only go to the PA, or amp by themselves? cheers for any help with this. bignath
