  1. Snapshot 1: Pedal works Snapshot 2: Pedal doesn't work Switch back to Snapshop 1: Pedal works
  2. Thanks for pointing me toward Fremen! Maybe I should get a Kemper for the trifecta... Then a Grandmeister 40... Then an Ethos... Brain explosions.
  3. I bought this pack. They're outstanding for using as a base to build tones from and learn how to set up some of the amps. This and a Glen pack have probably convinced me to keep the Helix and sell the Axe-FX II XL+. Getting great usable tones is simply easier and less neurosis-inducing on the Helix.
  4. If you strum really hard on a guitar, sometimes you can hear a little ringing momentarily caused after the nut. The velcro dampens it. Try plucking a string up there then put your finger where the velcro is and you'll hear what it does. I don't use it all the time because sometimes I like that ring.
  5. Hehe. I'm trying to compare only the sound and core functionality right now, so I flipped them around intentionally. So far, I have multiple usable tones on the Helix and mostly dull garbage on the Axe-FX. The latter has far more parameters to edit on amps and cabs and I can't yet tell if that's actually a good thing.
  6. I received my Helix today (woo) and have a problem (boo). I can't seem to get S/PDIF coming from my ESI Juli@ XTe to play to any of the Helix's outputs (headphones and 1/4" L/R are what I'm trying to use). I have the Global Settings set to S/PDIF instead of AES and 96kHz, and the ESI is outputting 96kHz. I can get USB ASIO to play through the Helix outputs, just not S/PDIF (which is really what I'm after). I have a proper 75 Ohm coax cable from Blue Jeans. My PCIe interface works great with my external DAC and Axe-FX II XL+, but the Helix isn't working with it. Any idea what's up?
  7. I went to pick up the Axe-FX II XL+ from a guy. Upon my return, FedEx was dropping off a tasty box from Sweetwater (Spoiler: Line 6 Helix). Time for the confusion fun to begin!
  8. Totally fair. I have a bunch of patches I've made for the Pod HD Desktop that I'll be comparing as well. What I'll probably try to do is dial in tones with the same or similar amps/pedals/cabs (or IRs) for a couple of weeks until I decide which I prefer. Honestly, I want to prefer the Helix. It costs less, looks nice, has integrated pedals, the interface is gorgeous, and I'm already used to Line 6 stuff.
  9. I have both an Axe-FX II XL+ and Helix incoming tomorrow. I found Tyler Grund's Stevie Ray Vaughan tones for the Fractal and will grab them for sure. Does anyone know of any other great SRV tones for either the Helix or Axe-FX II? Only one of the two units will stay so I want to give both a fair shake.
