  1. I'm new at integrating POD's into a larger rig. so by using the 4CM I want to unlock the ability to cut my guitar amps preamp in and out... but because I have numerous other FX I like to use... I'm curious what the best way to wire this up would be...Granted I haven't done anything other than try the HD500 by itself with the amp, I haven't attempted to integrate it fully into my rig as of yet. Should I go? Guitar -> Volume pedal - > Wah - > HD500 guitar in -> HD500 FX out -> Distortion pedals/compressor -> Amp in - > Amp FX out -> EHX POG 2 -> Diamond Tremolo -> HD 500 FX in-> HD 500 output - > Line 6 DL4 (looping only) -> Maxon AD999 -> Amp FX in Or do I put the POG/Diamond trem after the HD500 and before the DL4? The DL4 and the AD999 must be last in my chain due to how I use them. Essentially I put the HD500 in the signal chain the same place that all the FX that it's replacing were. As well, i must have the 4CM hooked up wrong or setup wrong, as when I was testing just the HD500 and my amp I ran into a few troubleshooting spots I don't know how to fix. I must not understand whats going on... I'm pretty sure I have the HD500 wired up correctly, but the problem I run into is with the FX loop setup and placement. I tested that the FX loop is for sure bypassing my amp. As when I click on the FX loop I am loosing the sound of the guitar amp (distortion channel disappears). however, when I switch the FX loop back on I head a mixture of both the amp tone and the amp tone of the HD500. Seeing as how I'm wanting to use the HD500 for mostly clean tones this is where I'm getting roadblocked in fully integrating it into my setup. Another minor curiosity is the huge change in how my amp's volume controls work now. My clean tone volume, which I normally need to run around 12:00 to be heard in my band I now had to drop to 8:00. My distortion channel I had to crank the volume past 1:00 which is odd because it's usually at 10:00. I have the mater volume of the HD500 at full volume, guitar in switch set at "normal", 1/4" out set at line level (top panel), FX loop switch set to stomp.
  2. figured that part out. But does it kill the send or the return? you can select either or
  3. Finally watched the video. but I wish they would have walked through the settings of the POD to tell me how they setup the FX block to shut the loop on and off. :( I'm sure once I play with it all will become obvious, but haven't had a chance to sit down with it yet.
  4. thanks that looks exactly what I need to try. Gonna lollipop off the bandmates as I mess around for an hour. but hey, the drummers always 45 minutes late anyways!
  5. I took an Amplifi FX100 home over the weekend, its going back VERY quickly. Its simple enough to use and the app works well.... but the dropped bluetotoh connection is highly irritating and I was also getting signal drop outs with the one I was using... maybe just a DOA unit? That being said, I couldn't figure out (and couldn't be bothered) to disable "preset" model and use it in "pedal" mode. Viewing and changing banks via the app is well... horrid. It's a cool unit overall, but I think for the functionality it delivers (and the price) I would rather just by an Amplifi 75 to put in my den at home to use as a bluetooth speaker for my phone/computer while still offering me an amp to play through. Especially since my wife wants to move my hi-fi system out of the den and into the living room. Apparently she has some vinyl she would also like to listen too from time to time... who knew? I think better money could be spent on a used HD500, new HD400...or saved for a DT
  6. amps: Roland JC120 Orange AD30 Orange Rockerverb 100 Orange OR50 Marshall Silver Jubilie Fender Acoustisonic Fender Tone Master (really hard to find in it's own right, but a unique and awesome amp. the other guitarist in my band plays one and its amazing!) Ampeg V4 Ampeg Gemini 20 FX: Crowther Hot Cake Emma Reezafratzitz (highly doubt this would ever make it in to a modeler lol) Fulltone OCD Fulltone Tape Echo a proper flanger (MXR M117 by chance?) Cusak Tap-A-Whirl (with some of the rhythm presets you can go through) EHX Freeze EHX POG Cab: Orange PPC412
  7. I have a POD HD500 I primarily use for practice use at home since I live in a small condo and can't crank my rig. However there are tones and patches I'm enjoying now with the HD500 that I don't have the pedals to duplicate with in my live rig. We have also run into a few venues where my "aircraft control board" will not fit on stage, so I want to replace some of these with the HD500 while also gaining some of the effects I don't have access to otherwise. My live rig: guitar -> Volume pedal, Wah, Compressor, 2 Distortion/boost boxes -> Orange Rockerverb 50 Amp FX loop -> EHX POG2, Diamond Tremolo, Vox Delaylab, Retrosonic Phaser, Line 6 M9, Line 6 DL4 (for sampling/looping only), Dr. Scientist Tremoloessence, Vox Time Machine, Maxon AD999 - FX Loop return Obviously there are a few FX pedals that cannot be duplicated by the POD, namely the POG and Diamond Trem (unique trem patterns). But the rest of the FX in the loop can be replaced by the POD HD500 in theory. The idea would be to have the POG2, Diamond Trem, DL4, and HD500 in the FX loop. Replacing the rest of the pedals in the loop. Simple enough to just use the POD as I used the M9, a multi FX machine... so why not just buy an M13 and keep the HD500 at home instead of hauling it back and forth? Well this is where I get a little insane. I want to still take advantage of the amp sims.... oh joy this is where I have no idea how to route it. I would like to go from my standard signal path to bypassing the amps preamp and just running through the POD into the FX return when I want say... an AC30 clean sound for example without having the Orange preamp colouring it. is this even possible? I don't want to bypass the Orange's preamp all the time as it's arguably one of the best sounding amps I've ever heard. I've got an ABY box sitting in my FX bin, and I'm not opposed to buying an extra box or two to make this happen... just is it possible? In theory wouldn't this work with 4 cable meothod? But what about my analog pedals infront of the amp? would they work better still before the amp and after the pod, or before the pod?
