I use sonar also, and the USB7 signal is plenty hot for me. The dry guitar signal needs to be at guitar level because you're going to send it back to the 'input' of the Helix. When re-amping the dry signal (USB3-6), I control the gain at the output block of the patch. I usually have to turn it down, rather than up.
