  1. Happy happy joy joy. I followed dickmoncur84's directions, albeit "modified" a tad: 1.) My PC that I started this process with last night died after I did a backup, so I installed Updater and Edit to my laptop. I made no modifications like '84 did, I just let it all download/install automatically. 2.) With the Helix powered off, I plugged it into the USB port of the laptop. 3.) I then powered up the Helix while simultaneously pressing buttons 6 & 12, it powered up and I verified the screen showed "update mode". 4.) Opened up Updater and signed in. 5.) Followed the update instructions listed to a "T" and in less than 10 minutes it updated the Helix to 3.15 and automatically rebuilt all of my presets that I had backed up. Thanks for all of the info !!!
  2. Update...just saw the post from dickmoncur84 on 5/1, will try that and report back tomorrow
  3. Update to my above post(s): With power to floor model off I simultaneously depressed switches 9 & 10 (the two center on bottom row) and powered up the device. No joy, I still have "Boot Failure. Entered Update Mode!" in the floor model's display screen.
  4. Update top my above post...I see the factory reset recommendation. Will try that.
  5. Correction to my above post...it was on version 2.71
  6. OK, folks...having some problems. My floor model was on the 2.1x version. In an effort to upgrade to 3.15, I first upgraded Helix Editor in my PC to 3.15. Initially it would not connect to the floor device via USB. Restarted PC and then got a connection. Began the 3.15 firmware upgrade to floor device with running the backup, following the automated directions through Editor. All went well. When I got to the firmware upgrade, that's when it all went to hell. After it got past 27% complete, for whatever reason my PC screen went blank. I noticed on the floor display it read "Boot Failure. Entered Update Mode!". I expected this to be normal, then I noticed the reason my PC screen went black was because it restarted. Once the PC was back to my desktop screen, I opened Editor and it will not connect to the device. I've tried cycling power to floor device, restarting PC, and exercising the USB cable in the PC port...no joy. I've limited time with my new job to spend even an hour searching the archives here for a solution, so can anyone help by leading me directly to a solution? Thank God I was able to back it up first.
  7. Downloaded the Updater and when trying to open it, getting "Failed to create OpenGL context for format QSurfaceFormat" error. It's suggesting I need to install a driver OpenGL 2.0 or higher...I would think whatever drivers were needed would have came with the download? Anyhow, I'm an analog kind of guy and this software stuff is like a different language to me. I'm good at following concise instructions, however. Also...I purchased my Helix last year and have never updated the firmware..it's 1.06.5...the Helix "app" I downloaded to my PC is looking for version 2.20 or higher, so I assume once I get the Updater squared I'll be able to follow the tutorial page here on how to upgrade firmware?
  8. That's how I feel looking for the correct software to download to my PC, so I can download custom tones and other information (such as the latest firmware upgrade). Am I the only one experiencing this? It's like I need a pack of Philadelphia lawyers to figure out this navigation. Where do I go to download the correct editor for my Helix? Will I be able to view downloaded custom tones with this or do I need an additional download?

    Helix FAQ

Got it figured out in time for last night's gig. Still much programming to be done, barely scratched the surface yet obviously. Thank you everyone !!!

    Helix FAQ

It helps greatly. That's what I was trying to do, to copy what is in the factory preset using the Cali Rectifire and twin cabs. The preset shows them split and in two separate paths. Now for some reason after doing this it's not allowing me to select any reverb, regardless if I have it set mono or stereo prior to the reverb block being placed.

    Helix FAQ

Still a newb here and kind of pressed for time (gig tonight and I'm still programming 3 last presets into this Helix). How do I install a Y split and a merge mixer on either side of dual cabs in the signal chain?

    Newbie questions

USB stick was there. Now that I'm scrolling around I'm learning on the fly and the "touch" control of the footswitch buttons is functioning. Thanks everyone !!!

    Newbie questions

Thank you !!! Simplest and most direct info I've received yet. Was surprised there wasn't a manual in the box, just a very nicely put together cheat sheet that isn't much help past wiring it up and turning it on.

    Helix FAQ

Newb here to this whole digital effects pedal world. Just unboxed my Helix and love the factory presets but I have some questions and one concern: 1.) I just pulled it out of the box and plugged it into my Mesa DC5 using the 4-cable method...I've noticed the footswitch buttons don't change channels simply by touching them with your skin (as advertised), you have to physically push them. Is this normal out of the box? 2.) How do I get to a blank "new preset" screen so I can start from scratch with a clean slate to create my own patches?

    Newbie questions

I know I can probably find the answers if I look here long enough, but I've already poured over 2 hours worth of material on youtube and frankly, I just don't have the time or patience lol. Just unboxed my Helix and love the presets but I have some questions/concerns: 1.) Why aren't the footswitch buttons changing the channels simply by touching them as they're advertised to do? 2.) How do I get to a "new preset" with a blank slate to start from? I haven't plugged it into my PC yet for any downloads or other support, was noodling with the controller as unboxed for now...and I am using the 4-wire connection method with a Mesa DC5. Thanks !!!
